That was a classic. It was late in 1974 I think on a muddy Norwood Oval. Cornes was being his arrogant best strutting around. The crowd were giving it to him so he decided to offer the fingers to the crowd ... like father like son :)

In the next play, Cornes went to ground so Wynne walked in an rubbed his face in the mud. Cornes stood up with mud all over him and crowd went nuts. It was all in good spirit, and very humorous.

Was actually Phil Carman.

Was Graham Cornes the SANFL equivalent of Trevor Barker?

IMO Cornes was better than Barker but not as good as Knights in the high flying stakes....

Thanks CP, that was troubling me all afternoon. I wasn't sure it was 2-8 but someone else said it was so I went along with it. It just sounded like something Wynne would have done :)

Good call about Cornes and Barker. Very similar styles of player, especially in the air. They were both great players to watch.

Can't defend the indefensible....

Went over too late after being too set in his ways. I'm glad he delayed his "try" at VFL footy as it allowed me two years as a kid to see him strut his stuff in the SANFL.
