Phil Tierney from East Perth came over to play one season for West Torrens in 1970.
Brian Adamson played for Norwood in 1978 & 1979.
Steve Curtis for Port Adelaide.
Greg Brehaut for Woodville.

The list goes on, almost too many to mention :)

Stephen Richardson i thought was quite an under rated wingman. He used to carve up my side Port, quite regularly.

Yes, the "tan man" was twin brother to Mike Richardson who played at Collingwood. Not everyone rated Richardson but I saw him play some pretty good football with the Legs at times.

How many years was Richardson at Norwood? Was it about 2 or 3?

Perrie came to the Crows from the WAFL, at North he was known by some as marshmallow man, some one today suggested it should have been "polyWAFL" instead.

Would he be the son of the WA commentator of the same name?

I've always spelt it "Grljusich", but I've seen it spelt so many different ways it doesn't matter.
He was brother to George the commentator.

Speaking of WA recruits, Norwood recruited an athletic and talented forward from Subiaco by the name of Geoff Clark. He only played 3 leagues for Norwood and returned to WA. It is the same Geoff Clark who later became Chairperson of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC). He later faced criminal charges of "misconduct" in 2003, a famous case at the time.

In 1965, Norwood recruited three players from WA. One was Haydn Bunton (captain-coach) who was originally from SA. Another was goalkicking wizard Ian Brewer who was originally from Collingwood in Victoria. The third was an interesting character named Sid Simeon from the Perth FC.

Simeon was named at FF in round 1 against Woodville and kicked 2 goals. That was his first and last league game for Norwood. He played seconds footy during the year including the final minor round against Central District at Adelaide Oval.

After having played he must have had a few beers or something and hung around to watch the league match. It was a thriller and Norwood lost by 4 points. Unhappy with the umpiring of Brian Lees, when the game was over Simeon hurdled the fence and assaulted Lees. He was jailed for 10 days and never returned to the club.

Not exactly a "great WA recruit", but an interesting one nonetheless.

My step father-in-law is good mates of Toms, and apparently Tom has been known to mention "occasionally" that he played state footy for both SA and WA.

Kevin Hill For West Torrens. One league game stands out when he was covered in mud (no pun intended he was a favourite player of mine) at thebie and the norwood players kept passing him the ball. :D
His son i think is playing in the AFL this year.

The thread title states "to make major impact in SANFL"! Sadly, Greg is no longer with us, died far too early. East Perth and Perth play for the Greg Brehaut Shield in the WAFL these days.

Ken Deards is another - a premiership player for East Perth who came over to play for West Adelaide and then Woodville (as a trade for Peter Meuret  ).

Yes, I realise Brehaut didn't play his best footy for Woodville, but I considered coaching a club as having an impact.

One who didn't have a big impact was John Hayes. State CHF for WA, came over to Westies in about 1975 after a large clearance fee and failed to fire a shot.
Did Noel Avery have much impact at the Bays?

Avery played 17 games for the Bays in 1977 but that was it. Don't know if he went back to the west or not. To be honest, as a non-Glenelg supporter, I remember him but he didn't make much of an impression the few times I saw him play.

Where did Norwood get the incredible Morrie Pope during the Killigrew era? He made a big impact - just not on the actual football.

Hayes was vice captain in his one year at Westies and played in the infamous "19 man" match against West Torrens (Fred Bills' 300th).

I was there, I remember it well. I'm sure I heard Hayes on the radio recently being interviewed about that incident.
If we'd got the points from that game (which we would have if the count hadn't been compromised) we would have made the finals.
I know, let it go.
