I remember Bobby Davis saying that there annual Australia wide search for players one year consisted of a ruckman.
The 2 that were shortlisted were Neil Kerley and Polly Farmer but they ran with the latter as they thought Kerls was a little bit short for the ruckman they were after.

That's a very good point. Just ask the Victorians how they rate Neil Kerley as a footballer. I can assure you it is very high.

Yes. But Victorian opinion isn't the be all and end all. Although I'm sure they think it is. :wink:

Very true. However, I've always considered a player should always be judged, not by his own supporters, the media, etc, but by his adversaries ... the people who had the job of playing against him. In the Kerley days, the pinacle of football was the interstate stage, and this is where Kerley made his mark in football.
