Not that they could lace his boots as footballers though.

Michael Aish vs Andrew Aish - proof as to who was the better Aish
John Wynne vs Jack Oatey - actually scrub that one. :D

Didn't we sort that one already???

Bob Simunsen - Russell Ebert (although careers overlapped, I reckon their respective "primes" were maybe 8-10 years apart)

Hard to imagine why Norwood would have done that. What they they have to gain? Oh, that's right ... Neville Roberts :)

Good bloke Ugo - used to own the lunch bar on Anzac Highway

Was it a GF when he almost cut his hand off on the Friday before, and said to the Dr: :"But I can play tomorrow though Doc, cant I"

It was the 1980GF, and Ugo crushed his finger working in the quarry.

That was the GF that shouldn’t have got away. Poor Ugo.
Felt sorry for a very young & inexperienced Nick Walker suddenly thrown
into the deep end too. Great winemaking makes up for it !

The story goes that Ugo was willing to have his finger cut off in order to play.
Does anyone remember the hours of mentoring and skills practice that
Neil Balme & Neil Button gave Ugo that year, long after the other players went home ?
Woodville got a player with professional intensive personal training from two
‘giants of the game’ !
Literally !

Great thread CP!

I thought I'd do an AFL cross-over:

Darren Jarman v Malcolm Blight
Russell Ebert v Mark Ricciuto
Peter Motley v Adam Goodes
Michael Graham v Andrew McLeod
Greg Phillips (in prime) v Wayne Carey
Gary McIntosh v Gary Ablett Jnr
Ross Gibbs v Bryce Gibbs
Scott Hodges (in prime) v Matthew Scarlett
Barrie Robran v Chris Judd
In between signatures .....

Speaking of AFL (lol which I know is taboo), in their prime Dermie v G. Jakovich would have been a beauty ... Michael Aish v Robbie Flower would have been good to watch too.

Spot on CP.
'Discussed' this matchup into the wee hours with some Melbourne blokes back in the early 80's.
Not sure if I won the 'discussion', but with Aishy's rep on the line I killed 'em in the drinkin'.

How about John Wynne or Neil Balme Vs Neil Kerley

(One wouldn’t necessarily have to reside in the Nygaard household to enjoy that payback)

My money's on Kerls, unless they Wynne and Balme had a go at the same time then maybe it becomes an even money bet....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Next you'll be telling me Nick Chigwidden could play football.

And next you'll tell me that the Lycra guernsey was good for MAcca's figure - even with aerodynamic styling Macca couldn't catch Chiggy to smash him... ;) ;)
