Got signed up from the bush, played a few games and starred and then it was time to concentrate on farm life.

He is? I thought he was the president of the Anti Football Association :D

Nah, from memory he just wore a Warriors scarfe, presumably sent by a viewer, one night on his ABC cooking piece when Woodville were stone motherless bottom.

He did do guest speaker spots at Warrior businessman's lunches back in the day, so there was an association of sorts.

Got a feeling there was also an association with Bert Newton in a similar way (could be wrong there). A Fitzroy supporter by nature.

Barry Ion (Bazz & Pilko for the younger viewers :) ), who also played for the Peckers.

Rob Kelvin
Kevin Crease
Jane Reilly
Stuart O'Grady
Mark Davis (Adelaide 36ers)
Hugh Sheridan (Packed to the Rafters)

Justin Langer was a member back in the day through his PACC links while at the cricket academy.

Former PM Gough Whitlam pulled on a guernsey during a luncheon at Alberton in '72 - does that count?

I reckon the other half of Bazz and Pilko went for the dogs, did he not?

How about former premiers:

John Bannon - North
Lynn Arnold - I only ever heard him discuss football once, and he professed an equal interest in Port and Central. Not wanting to upset his electorate I reckon
Dean Brown - South
John Olsen - West
Mike Rann - Go Panthersss!

No idea of the allegiances of any earlier premiers. Had a vague feeling that Playford went for Port; I could be wrong.

Charles "pistols at dawn" Kingston was most definitely a South man.
Don Dunstan was a mad Norwood supporter. Got a feeling Cochrane was Port and Tonkin was Sturt (I know his kids were).

Robyn Archer and Francis Greenslade (Micallef Tonight, Sea Change etc) are North supporters.

And so did Mark Latham.

Bob Hawke on the other hand once (and only once) stated that he was a North Adelaide supporter, as was his Minister Chris Hurford and the former member for Adelaide Andrew T. Jones.

Mick Young of course was a staunch Port supporter and his son young Mick Young, played seconds for Port. He actually was a very good player. I thought that he would have played league for the lesser sides at the time.

Other ex politician supporters include Ralph Clarke, Jane Lomax Smith, Michael Wilson (the former Minister for Transport) and Senator Sir Harold Young, former President of the Senate in the Fraser Government were all North supporters.

Geoff Virgo and Roy Abbott were South barrackers. Jack Wright and of course Don Dunstan were Norwood supporters.

David Tonkin and Stan Evans were both Sturt barrackers and of course current politician Iain Evans played Reserves for Sturt.

Bobo Olsen was a West Adelaide barracker.

Michael Wilson's son played some reserves for us if memory serves. Also John Coombe state member for Torrens for MANY years was a staunch North man.

LL you are absolutely right about John Coumbe. Michael wilson junior actually had a couple of league games for North in 1988. He played in the loss to Sturt at Prospect fairly early in the season

And Don Banfield, Minister for Health under Dunstan, once told me, after a few of Brandies and Dries, that he should be No. 1 ticket holder at Norwood because he'd been a member of the NFC long before Don Dunstan.
