Where would the best place and time be to view one of these books?
Does At the Toss of the Coin have a copy or 2?

It is a great stats package... It even icludes trial match results

One issue... in 1962 W lost to G in the Night Series - was this an official game for the WFC??

This is a very good question, and one I was hoping someone else could answer. Other clubs have included the pre-season games of 1962 in their official records, so why shouldn't Woodville?

However, if they do include this match, then suddenly some players made their senior debuts in this game rather than round 1 1964 v North Adelaide.

Night games were hardly regarded as "Premiership point" games especially in the early 1960's.
In any case that game was an oversight as it did not appear anywhere in official records I looked at and Woodville did not enter the League Competition until 1964.
Perhaps you could spend 8 years of your spare time researching and putting together a book.
I'm disappointed in the criticism of books I'm passionate about and have issued at my own iniative

And I'm disappointed by your attitude. As a historian myself, I am asking the question in order to clarify matters. I would have thought if it was an official game, you may have been at least interested rather than spit the dummy because someone dared ask a question. I've been researching football for over 30 years, not just 8, and have enough information for a number of books. I just choose not to make a profit from the game.

Historic view of Woodville

DOUG ROBERTSON

September 25, 2006 12:15am
Article from: The Advertiser

It's the Woodville Football Club encyclopedia with a difference ... every detail and statistic logged since 1938 when the Peckers started in the Port Adelaide Suburban competition.

Historian John Storer has produced 100 hardback books, individually numbered and signed by Peckers' greats and SA Football Hall of Fame members Bob Simunsen and Ralph Sewer. The book including 19 team photos sells for $100.

A former SANFL underage umpire and umpires' coach in New Guinea, Storer has also completed a statistical history of West Torrens. The hardback will be signed by Eagles legends Lindsay Head and Bob Hank, who won five Magarey Medals between them.

Storer says the two books chronicle every league player, their achievements and awards and the games they played. It even notes when they were injured.

"The West Torrens book is twice as big (408 pages) because there's a lot more history to put in it," said Storer, a West Torrens fan as a boy. "It started out as a hobby. I really love working on the computer and doing family trees but this (books) sort of took over."

The complete history of Woodville-West Torrens is currently being written by The Advertiser's Peter Cornwall and David Burtenshaw.

Featuring first-hand accounts of some of the greatest stories in SANFL football history and numerous photos, the book is expected to be released for the opening of next season.
