1966 - Malcolm Hill
Based on votes from twelve (!) football writers in the Sunday Mail and The Advertiser, Hill had 32 votes (9-2-1), "Emmy" Jones 26 (3-8-1), John Halbert 7 (0-2-3), Trevor Obst (PA) 6 (0-0-6) and Brenton Adcock 1
Based on the votes of ten writers in 1967, it looks like any medal would have to have gone to the losing side
John Cahill 26 (6-4-0), Brenton Adcock 20 (3-5-1), Roger Rigney 6 (1-1-1)
1968 was not clear-cut at all. It needed the 'casting vote' of "Footy World"'s Ken Farmer to get Baggy over the line. From a total of seven writers:- Paul Bagshaw 14 (2-3-2), John Murphy 13 (3-2-0), Rick Schoff 9 (1-2-2) and Peter Endersbee 5 (1-0-2)
In 1969, if the six writers had been voting they would have to have awarded two medals as it was an inseparable dead-heat between Baggy and John Tilbrook with 12 (3-1-1), then Malcolm Greenslade with 8 (0-3-2)
In 1970, it was Paul Bagshaw without a doubt. From six writers he had the maximum 18 votes, followed by Peter Endersbee 8 and Roger Rigney 4.
Not so much evidence of 1974 and while my memory would've given Baggy a possible 4th grand final medal, The Advertiser's Keith Butler suggested that Glenelg's John MacFarlane edged him for best on ground. Pretty hard to believe!!
