Apparently Michael O'Loughlin was told by his U'19 coach at Central - as another poster mentioned here a while back - that he wouldn't play senior SANFL football.

well, he was right

Andrew Obst was told he was not good enough by Port U-19's back in 1983.He went on to play about 4 seasons at West Croydon.
I think that he was the best player for the All-Australian team at the 1988 Bi-centennial carnival.

Debuted in 1987, playing 8 games.

Was a regular thereafter.

Premierships in 1988, 1989, 1998, 1999.

One cold wintery night at Elizabeth Oval in 1993 a coach pulled aside three young footballers and said "boys, we're looking to focus on the guys who will play under 19s for us next season and sadly, we don't think you three will be up to it. It's up to you but we'd suggest you go back to your clubs and see how you go there. You can train with us but you're no guarantee of getting selection".
The coach (who was involved with a prominent amateur league club this season) was correct about two of those players - the other went on to play in an AFL premiership with Sydney and is now their games record holder.
His name...Mick O'Loughlan.
I guess two out of three ain't bad.

And after winning his first AFL premiership he sent Central a signed and framed A4 size picture of him celebrating a goal he kicked on GF day with a plaque reading 'NOT GOOD ENOUGH'

He still has never forgiven Central

Yep, have seen the picture for myself,
i knew he was still dirty on Central after speaking to him on AFL Grand Final Day 2004, Port vs Brisbane at the Elizabeth Downs Pub (Midway Tavern), he didn't have a good word to say about the club.

Was funny though he bought a whole box of those BINGO tickets and was handing them out letting everyone keep the winnings of what tickets they opened. Was a very messy day which we all ended up at the Eureka and then the Basement never again.

Yes he was, and he had a knee injury at Brisbane which is why he was delisted.
