Mr Spell check a stat question for you, has anyone ever played for 2 states in the 1 year. Charlie Sharples from Sturt played for the NT U/18's in the NAB Championship and is in the running to play for SA agaisnt the Vics. Let us know if that has happened before.

I don't have my records with me because I'm at work, but I think Malcolm Blight may have played for SA and Vic in the same season. I'm thinking maybe 1979 when they had the State of Origin carnival at the end of the season in Perth.

Yes, on May 21st 1979, he kicked three goals for Victoria against South Australia, and then on October 6th for South Australia against Victoria he kicked four goals.

A Mrs_spell_check will need to have the same interest in footy as me, for there to be a Mrs_spell_check, I think. :) The info I got that from was in the Football Times 1980 Year Book.

No problem. :) I would think that the State of Origin/State match combination was the only way a senior player could have done this.

I'm not 100% certain of this, but I think Darrin Pritchard played for Victoria and Tasmania in 1989, and Jason Dunstall may have represented Victoria and Queensland in the same season.

I know they both played for Victoria against SA at the MCG, and then were the two captains in a Qld v Tas state game later that season. I stand to be corrected though.

Ah yes, that could be, too.

My memory's playing tricks on me Spelly. I was almost right. Dunstall and Prtichard did play for Victoria in 1989, but not Qld & Tas. The one I was thinking of was Jason Dunstall who played for both Victoria and Queensland in 1988.

The Queensland appearance would have been in the Bicentennial Championships?

Spelly, how many players have represented more than 2 states in footy (at any level), Clinton Alleway represented QLD in U18's, has represented the VFL at senior level, and now will represent SA , has there been any others ??

The obvious one (and the only one as far as I know) is Wayne Carey.

Actually, there was a Steve Kenna in the 2002 Queensland side that played WA. Is this the same player?

Bill Mayman played state football for WA, SA, and Tasmania. He actually represented three states in Carnivals.

Ralph Rogerson (North Adelaide 1956-58 52 Games) represented Victoria (as a Fitzroy Player), WA (as an East Perth player) and of course SA (as a North player).
