This will give you something to do Spelly. I was reading up on some WAFL footy this evening and found a round in the 1950s where three of the four games in one round were decided by less than a goal.

It got me wondering if there has ever been a round in the SANFL where every game in a round were decided by less than a goal. If not, what would be the record?

Also, what would would have been the closest round in terms of total margin?

No, there has only been three matches in a round to have had that happen:

Round 10 1932 had margins of 85, 3, 1 and 3 points.
Round 6 1933 had margins of 28, 1, 5 and 4 points.
Round 12 1939 had margins of 1, 60, 1 and 3 points.
Round 2 1955 had margins of 1, 26, 4 and 0 points.

The lowest total of margins for a 3 match round is 11 points - Round 11 1911 had margins of 1, 9 and 1 points.
The lowest total of margins for a 4 match round is 25 points - Round 12 1927 had margins of 2, 13, 3 and 7 points, as well as Round 20 1997 - 1, 2, 7 and 15 points.
The lowest total of margins for a 5 match round is 36 points - Round 13 1977 had margins of 0, 10, 9, 12 and 5 points.
