I noticed at the 2004 Olympics he was commentating in the water polo; at this Games the Football/Soccer, but this thread is in this particular forum because I would like to know how long he commentated (and when) on the ABC telecasts of the SANFL. I know he and Gerry Harrison along with Daryl Hicks were that stations commentators in the 1985-87 Grand Finals.
And also anything else anyone knows about him - age, television history, sports he played; for example.

I don't think he ever played professional sport, although not certain on that. I do remember him at the ABC in the mid 80's though, just as i think Wally Foreman had a year or 2 at the ABC in the 80's doing SANFL games as well.

Every time I think of Neville Oliver, I think of why they called him "Bubbles". It makes me laugh

Are you able to elaborate on that one, Hawkie?
I shudder to think that Bwucey did the SANFL and the VFA back in the early/mid 1980s and that he is still on our screens. Aaaaaaaaarghhh!
I'm glad that I am not watching Seven's Olympic coverage - apparently his voice is never off!

Yeah sure. I wasn't sure how well known this was so I didn't expound earlier.
If you say his name a certain way ... "Neville Oliver" ... or in one hit .. "nevilleoliver", it sounds like someone farting in a bathtub ... hence, "Bubbles"
