Blue Star boots

Does anyone remember Blue Star boots? They were worn by many Sturt players in the early 70's. I believe they were made by Rossiter Boots, whose factory was in Unley.

Here's the Jumbo Prince resplendent in a pair. Appropriately, given this week's Sturt v Central clash, he's marking Terry Moore's head in a final against Central in the early 70's. Phil Haughan is trotting along in the background and it could be Diamond Jim Tilbrook flying just behind Moore.

I actually had a pair and they were the most comfortable boot I wore. The funny thing is, my mother fished them out of a bargin bin for $2 (this was back in the early 70s), and I loved them. Kicked plenty of goals in them, and when I think of the amounts of money players spend these days on boots, I smirk at the thought my favourite pair only cost $2. :)

My first pair of footy boots were Blue Stars. I got them in 1970 along with my first North Jumper.

had a pair of blue stars as a junior in the early seventies. I remember taking a mark in the goal square and then kicking out on the full. from memory it felt like I was kicking with steel caps. I might be making excuses but I convinced my mum to buy me adidas not long after.

I don't think you can blame kicking a ball out of the full from the goalsquare on the boots. You should be able to kick those goals wearing galoshes :)
