The South Melbourne/Sturt match was the challenge match after Sturt had won the inaugural night series. It was played at Norwood.

The 1954 game between North and the NTFA was a friendly at the end of the season as North were hosting them on their trip to Adelaide. It warrants a couple of lines in the 1954 Annual Report but that's it. Not even a score just to say it was a win to North. However I can tell you it was played under lights at Norwood.

Venue was Norwood under lights. South Melbourne has never played under lights. Bob Pratt Junior "debuted" in this match and wore his father's number 10.

Crowd given in Advertiser as 15,000 (not 8,000). It is named as a record night crowd and gate is given as ₤2,327. Venue is Norwood. Umpire is Hall. No qtr by qtr. Jim Deane is named as BOG!
