Spelly,

In each of the years since the Stanley H. Lewis trophy was inaugurated, how many premierships has been won over the 4 grades by the club which claimed the Stanley H. Lewis trophy in that year?

Norwood sure did have some unbelievable depth in the 80's.
I recall their junior grades always dominating.

Not a criticism, but surely they should;ve won a few more flags or at least competed in a few more Grand Finals.

I've seen this discussion the site before about Norwood. It was in particular the second half of the 80's when they probably should have won at least one flag. As i wrote previously i think it was their lack of quality forwards that was the difference between them being very competitive and winning a flag during the period from 85-90.

We did have Mark Ducker and a couple of others who served the club well, but ostensibly you are correct. I often lamented the fact other clubs seemed to pick up star forwards whereas Norwood, with the exception of Neville Roberts, never did.

During that period, we placed to great an expectation on the junior product, whereas to be successful you need to recruit both within and outside your structure. We failed to do this and paid the price.

Can you imagine the Norwood teams in the mid to late 80s had we picked up a player such as Rudi Mandemaker, Grenville Dietrich, John Roberts, Alan Jakovich, Stephen Nichols or Rick Davies? Definite premierships just waiting to happen.
