Every Club hazem
The supporters who are almost household names
They are at times symbolic of thier clubs
Some more noticable than others
Some known by name, others by face
Im gunna name them the UNcelebrity suppoters

I have several but will start off with the man who inspired this thread

THE RAFFLE TICKET MAN AT WDV OVAL GAMES
Heez tallish, mature aged, with a beard and sells the EG raffles
And he is LOUD
You will see this man walking around WDV oval screaming Eagle raffles for sale
Ive bought a few tickets off the great man
This uncelebrity legend is one of my favourite personalities at the suburban grounds
But I dunno his name, yet

His nickname is Aussie. He is a year older than you, Mal.

Raffle bloke (Aussie) needs new jokes. Heard the 'Valley of Stupidity' comment numerous times. He's everywhere though. Sells the budget at Norwood night games, and gives away free newspapers after AAMI stadium games.

Most Norwood fans will never forget Brian Prestwood.
Was sad when I heard of his passing. He let me sit next to him once at Alberton when my Dad and I were looking for somewhere to sit. I was about 10.

Plenty more that can get a mention, most of which post on this forum!

Most SANFL fans will not forget him. And if you have never heard (of) him then you ain't a SANFL fan.

Ernie was at the Woodville Oval as per usual last saturday
Saw the silver haired slow gaited man behind the scoreboard goals

Ernie has been at the club seemingly forever
He is there for the footy and cricket games

He has prob been at the club since the 1964 inception ?

Brian Prestwood
Who can forget him cheering on his beloved Leggies
With his Redleg beanie and his Norwood guernsey on
And to see Brian out during the between qtr team huddles at the Parade was commonplace
You remember stalwarts like Brian when you were a kid at the legs games
What number NW guernsey did Brian wear ? [Was it number 1 ?]

Sorry, but anyone who switches clubs to follow a coach isn't my idea of a great club supporter.

I thought he lived at the oval, he's there for everything, even kids footy. I can remember goaql umpiring for my sons primary school footy team at the annual lightning carnival, while we were at Woodville North were giving the Magies a bath at Alberton, I was dressed in my North gear ready to head straight to Alberton after my sons team was knocked out, while I was waving flags, Ernie was keeping me up to date with the scores from Alberton.

Got a feeling Brian wore 24 (for Ross Dillon)

He may have, I can't recall. All I know is he wore No.2 when I first saw him in the mid-60s.

Talking of supporters like Ernie, Brian Prestwood etc - Glenelg have bayman?

There is also a youngish (perhaps late 20's, early 30's) Norwood supporter who I see every week at Norwood games I get to...

He wears a red and blue top hat, always carries his flags that he waves and has volunteered as a scoreboard attendant in trial games...

Ernie and Aussie are part of the furniture at the Eagles and are seen regularly at all Eagles games as well as some other neutral games...

Bayman's record of attending Glenelg games goes without saying and although I'm yet to meet the great man, we can't not make mention of good old mal...

Westies have that lad that is always behind the goals wearing a Bloods jumper, number 4 I think and is very vocal at the huddles and from behind the goals. He is only a little fella and I don't mean to offend, but he looks like he has had some kind of facial surgery or something, but he is easily recognizable.

Big Phil, Ive spotted that WA barracker
He is short very skinny man
What he lacks in size he makes up by being a vocal WA barracker

Question BP
Theres a young lad with very long fair hair that Ive seen at nearly all CD games
Heez in the crowd
Heez also seen in the qtr by qtr huddles
Heez seen in the clubrooms with the players after the games as well

1972-2010 not out
This erstwhile GL barracker
Heez easy to find at the Bay Oval
He sits on the seat in the forward pocket Anzac Hwy end
larger than life
if you cant spot him, heez the one belting the advertising banners after most GL goals
Into his 39th season without missing a game that GL has played in

I know we have dedicated another thread to Bayman, but he deserves a 2nd mention in this thread as well

Brian Prestwood also wore 14 for Garry McIntosh.

BP - i know the top hat guy you mean. Don't know his name though.

Super Sid is another stalwart.

Sturt have a guy who always wears his beanie to games and walks around saying "Cmon Sturt". He'd be in his 40s but been around for quite a while.

South had the late Kit and Snow Fischer. Always in the newspaper when they did articles about diehard supporters.

Has Pram Lady been entered into Wikipedia yet?

Pretty sure the sturt guy you speak of squawk is "Alex". He yells out "one point one point" when the opposition have a set shot. He is handicapped and catches public transport to pretty much every game I believe... LEGEND!!
