Happy 60th Phil Carman

Belated cheers for Fabulous Phil Carman's 60th birthday last Saturday. All that talk of SANFL Toyota ads reminded me of this - and the fact they could do one of him headbutting the boundary umpire at Moorabbin in 1980. They could get him to headbutt Dave Lawson.

I don't think Phil would be a part of it to be honest. Some of us prefer to think of days like his incredible debut against Port at Norwood in 1970, 7 goals from centre against South at the Parade, or the day he came back from injury in those white boots, booting 11 goals for Collingwood at full forward. Sensational player whose ability always seems to be shrouded by memories of the silly things he did.

Thing about those Toyota ads is that they celebrate famous moments.

Not infamous.

Even the Dermie ad is told from his POV, which makes it heroic.

So we'll never see a Robbie Muir Toyota ad.

Or Grave Danger...

Article in the Herald Sun about him, now landscaping but thinks he cost Collingwood a premiership.

No good thinking about it now ... he should have done that 33 years ago. #-o
