Magarey Medal: dumped after a vote-winning performance

Looking at the 2010 Magarey Medal count, I noticed that Mitchell Grigg of Norwood was favoured with both 1 MM vote and the SANFL Star Search nomination for round 23.
This is particularly notable because he was pushed out of the side (for a returning Bryce Campbell) for Norwood's next match, the Qualifying Final
So, the history question: has a player been dumped from the league side after a MM-polling match before? If so, who and when?
I grant you Spelly, this is a tough one, because it not only requires team lists, but also to know why the player was left out (i.e. not because of injury or other cause).

John Kalleske polled 3 votes for Sturt in his only game of the 1966 season. It happened to be the last minor round game. He was dropped for the second semi.
Old times might remember him. He was a tall blond headed good mover, who certainly stood out.

I could tryand find others for you, Simon, but knowing why they didn't play in the following match would be harder still. I'd love to be able to have a stats database which could do that for me in an instant. Instead, I've got a list of Magarey Votes in one file - in it is 1990-93 and 1998 onwards; and season by season matches from 1991 in other files - one for each year.

I guess it's up there with Sturt's Brian Martin who kicked 10 goals against West Adelaide at Richmond in 1966 and was dropped the following week to make way for Emmy Jones.
Did Brian Martin get votes in 1966 Spelly?

Even though definitive answers are tough, thanks for the great responses.

You could link the tables in access or another database tool.

That would be something I'll need to do sooner or later - I only have Excel files.
