PRELIMINARY FINAL STATS
Win and loss ratios
NW 15-14
PA 14-14
GL 13-6
NA 7-8
ST 7-10
WA 6-8
SA 5-3
EG 5-4
CD 1-5
Very interesting
GL have clearly the best strike rate of winning
CD have the worst strike rate
SA have the 2nd best strike rate as well
PA have only a 50% strike rate
The above stats are rather surprising to me
Has anyone got the stats for
Elimination Finals
Second Semi Finals
Grand Finals

So ranked order of "winningest" percentage in finals since 1931 is:
Port 57.5
Centrals 56.9
North 51.2
Sturt 49.4
Glenelg 49.4
Norwood 47.7
Eagles 47.7
West 42.1
South 40.5
Woodville 40.0
Torrens 39.4
Hmm maybe my lot isn't so bad after all - Surprised at Norwood's to be honest.

I'm actually surprised it is that high, given for starters that they never beat North in a final of any sort between about 1932 and 1995. And before anyone gets smart and says that they never played, i think you will find that they played about 8 or 9 finals against each other in that time

Norwood won a lot of their flags prior to 1931

And Centrals didn't win any until we became a feeder comp to the AFL.

AH, would you 'downgrade' the value of these Premierships if it were Norwood that had won 9 of the last 11 flags?

It has always been the second best comp in the country.

And Port won 9 of theirs after we became a feeder league in the mid-90's after Glenelg had been raped and piilaged, and similarly Glenelg didn't win back-to-back flags until the Port team of the early 80's had been too.

Debatable but if yes to completely different degrees, North beat Carlton in 72 to be champions of Australia and beat Melbourne here and Collingwood in Melbourne in 1986. Like to see Central do that. Be a 30 goal flogging.

Centrals would do it easy, the players who played would be aged over 60 now.

Good point, I take it back!
