I wouldnt put Sims in the hard nut type, more a hit from behind and run kind of bloke.

Then when he goes face to face with some one he ends up with his eye completley shut.

Refer to 1991 GF

In my time watching Westies, the pick of those who enjoyed hurting opponents:
Ray Hayes
Joe Humphreys
Bruce Stevenson
Ron Andrews
Mark Dreher

But 'hard' in terms of fearlessness would be a player very few remember and who didn't play many league games, but I've never seen a more courageous player than Tim Baldwin. Recklessly indifferent to his own well being.

you're kidding right?

West started the dirty tactics, & yes, Sims belted some no-name from West.
After that, West players & support staff ensured all future fights were 2 or 3 on to 1- hold a bloke down while someone else belts them.
So yes, Sims had his eye closed up, not by the guy he was facing off with, but from behind.

I should watch these fights prior to going to Richmond Oval...

Only a red&white eyed North fan could not see the thug in Sims.
