Top 10 SA Footballers of all time!!!

Postby eaglehaslanded » Sat Jul 22, 2006 10:41 am

Just finished reading an interesting article in the Advertiser writen by both Michalangelo Rucci and Mike Sheahan talking about who they consider the top footballers from SA of all time. Got me to thinking after I read their respective top 10's I decided to have a crack myself so where we go with my top 10 SaA footballers of all time:

1 Russell Ebert
2 Barry Robran
3 Malcolm Blight
4 John Platten
5 Craig Bradley
6 Mark Ricciuto
7 Darren Jarman
8 Gavin Wanganeen
9 Stephen Kernahan
10 Bob Hank

I would be interested in everyones opinion on this, so throw me your top 10's and we can discuss this hot topic.

If Bob Quinn isn't in the top ten, then I'm a flying Dutchman.

Won a Magarey on one leg!

Also, Bernie Smith?

Always think these lists should be broken into different eras.

Something like...

1860-1900
1901-1945
1946-1990
1991-

See wedgie - people don't read your posts properly! Lucky it wasn't Darryl Smith as he could have got on his soap box and abused you on RPH for not including Ebert or worse still - deleting him from your list!!!

Maybe you need an ARROW to point that out to Strawb?

Wedgie as you would have noticed mt top 10 players was top 10 sa footballers of all time I wasn't being SANFL specific. I mentioned great SA players that have showcased their abilities on the big stage as well. SANFL, VFL/AFL was all included and that is why such names as Ricciuto, Wanganeen, Bradley, Kernahan have made the list. If I was just referring to SANFL I could have had such names as Davies, Bagshaw, Halbert, Aish, Mcintosh etc

Mate my list was purely the top 10 SA Footballers of all time, I wasn't being SANFL specific at all. I don't rate Roo, Wanganeen, Bradley or Kernahan in my Top 10. Perhaps one of them might be unlucky to sneak in at no 10.

I'll preface this by saying I have favoured palyers who I have seen more than the old timers as it is more difficult to make an informed decision on them.......

1. Russell
2. Barrie (isn't in funny how they really good ones lose their last name.........)
3. Ken Farmer
4. Bradley
5 Quinn
6 S Kernahan
7 Head
8 Blight
9 Cornes
10 Rucuttio
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
