Google search shows this for 20th century http://www.fullpointsfooty.net/south_au ... .htm#Right Half Forward Flank

Are you referring to 21st century?

Is that an "official" team of the century?

I remember years ago, going back to the mid-90s, the 'Tiser named their best South Australian team of all-time.

Based on teams selected by an expert panel that included Fos Williams, Neil Kerley and John Halbert among others.

Not many (then) current players got a guernsey.

And didn't Mike Coward, Merv Agars & co. pick a "Greatest SANFL Team" for the '77 centenary season?

I'm almost certain there was never an official SANFL Team of the Century, I think they just opted for a Hall of Fame which suits me. Not often I agree with Studley Cornes, but a Team of the Century is grossly unfair to the quality of player who misses out.

I don't think I'll ever get over Roger Woodcock missing out on Norwood's Team of the Century.

Still can't believe Ian Hannaford didn't get a guernsey in Port's "Greatest" team...

Yeah, that's an interesting one. Do you think his premature retirement had anything to do with it?

That's a reason I've heard some have given for his omission.

Doesn't really wash considering his 123 games with Port are more than Craig Bradley (98), Dick Russell (121) and Harold Oliver (117), who all got guernseys in the 22. Although it took Oliver many more seasons to get to his tally, Braddles and Russell played at Alberton for less seasons than Hannaford.

Throw in being a state regular (17 games), club vice-captain, regular "Best Player in Finals" award winner, and I reakon they could've at (the very) least found a spot for him on the bench. For mine, he should be in the 18. First ruck or CHF.

And the team was selected by club greats Bob Quinn, Fos Williams, Dave Boyd, Russell Ebert and Greg Phillips.

Staggering.

I agree. I only saw Hannaford play 1 game, but he was by all reports an exceptional player.

Maybe the VFL/AFL team is why we never did one. There were some ordinary calls in the AFL one.
