i think the best goal i ever saw (without the fluke ones counted) was ben hollands at the adelaide oval in what i think was a state match, sadly that goal will never be repeated as the pockets are now 'narrow' & not 'deep' as it used to be,

the kym dillon checkside goal to win a game for west torrens against glenelg at thebarton was a great kick especially considering he was kicking knowing his kick would win the game & that took some composure...............what were yours ?

No contest in my mind. Round 1, 1972, Norwood v Port Adelaide at the Parade. In the 3rd quarter, Noel Pettingill takes a set shot for the Beaulah Road goal on the defence side of centre. He lets go with a torpedo punt that hushes the crowd, passes through post high and hits the fence at the back of the oval.

The next day Robert Oatey and Phil Carman measured the kick at 105 metres. Most awesome goal I ever saw.

Kym Dillon kicked that goal out of his arse ...

Paul Weston at footy park against Norwood ... 106m out but admittedly it bounced.

I'll trot out the same old culprits here:

1986 Grand Final, Hall -> Maynard -> Symonds -> GOAL

1986 Grand Final, John Roberts covered half the ground, dodging at least 3 Tigers and doing the old one-two handpass back and forth with another Rooster on the way to the goals.

1993 Foundation Cup Final, Adrian Settre of Port was streaming into an open goal and got tripped by a diving Eagle player. Settre got up and turned goalwards, only to be collected with a hip-and-shoulder from another Eagle. The ball came free and rolled goalwards, eventually coming to rest in front of the goal line. Further Eagles arrived on the scene but Settre, prostrate on ground, lashed out with his boot and tapped it over the line.

I have vague memories of watching a VFL telecast in the early 80s, in which a ball had come to rest in Collingwood's goalsquare. Peter Daicos and his opponent charging goalwards both jumped feet-first towards the ball. Daicos succeeded in being the one to make contact and soccer it through.

-Belton's kick smothered by Scanlon deep in defence
-scramble for possession and Scanlon wins the ball and hand balls to Aish
-Aish runs from the half back flank to the outer wing taking 5 bounces and hand balls over the top to Keith Thomas
-Keith Thomas kicks forward
-Ball is spoiled, but Greg Thomas roves the pack
-Greg Thomas spots Keith Thomas who has kept running and fires off a (horrible) hand ball
-Keith Thomas somehow gathers the ball from behind him with one hand and with Anthony Williams rushing towards him, throws the ball on the boot and puts it through

Tremendous team goal under pressure.

Thanks for that, I was sitting in the old stands level with him when he kicked it, it was a freak goal

OK then, I have the wrong player. ...Brief pause while I consult the ever-reliable Snouts Wiki (tm)... could it have been David RobertSON, perhaps, who kicked 2 goals in the 1986 GF?

That goal - and the made-up Rooster fan who extended his index finger skywards while on camera - would have been the only memorable highlights of the game from a North Adelaide perspective.

One more:

I remember Gilbert MacAdam standing out of bounds in the north-western pocket of Football Park, dodging opposition players (Roosters? don't remember that detail so well) charging at him while he held the ball valiantly over the boundary line, just in play; then taking a couple of steps inside the boundary before dropping the ball onto his boot and splitting the centre of the northern goals.

Ah, that old MacAdam Magic....

I remember that goal well. It was in the last quarter of a night match on a Monday night between North and Central. It was either the first or second minor round game of the year. Gilbert McAdam had a very quiet night, he only had 8 kicks if my memory serves me correctly but he did three of the most mercurial things imaginable. I said to mates on Magarey medal night that if Gilbert gets votes in that game against North then he will win the medal. He duly polled I think one vote and the rest is history. There was some dispute as to whether he deserved votes or not, but we had to remember that the Magarey Medal is for Fairest and Most Brilliant and certainly even though he was a long way from the best that night he was certainly the most brilliant.

Tony McGuinness at the bay (82 or 83) burning off Merve Keane.
Cornes after siren at Norwood in 77
Jeff Fehring (NWD) (at unley i think) massive massive torp. (this ones a bit hazy) May have been in the reserves.

I recall a particular goal from Ken McGregor a year or 2 before he was drafted by the Crows.

He was on a very tight angle, and to be truthful I can't remember if it was a banana or kicked over his head or something like that - but I do recall thinking when i saw it, how good a goal it was.

who thens runs on to it, angles his body to prevent it being smothered by a Glenelg player,
