Spot on mate. ;)

IIRC, when I first started following the 'Pies around '76, Bucky wore #8, Russell Ebert wore #1 and Chris Natt #7. Then when Bucky became captain & wore #1, Herb wanted his old #7 back, so Chris Natt took on #8. 8)

And just for some useless trivia, some other skippers former guernsey numbers (IIRC) before taking on the captaincy are ;

Russell Johnston #25
Greg Phillips #20 (wore #22 before he played for Collingwood)
Stephen Williams #10
Tim Ginever #2
Daisy Borlase #16
David Brown #21
Darryl Poole #30
Tony Brown #2
Mark Clayton #10
Corey Ahchee #43
James Mieklejohn #19

Feel free to correct any of the above if incorrect. ;)

PS; Yes, Fourth Estate, that's a Rosewater jumper - Andy Porplycia also came from the Bulldogs around about the same time. :)

And the great John Cahill was number 14 before he became captain, and the equally great Geof Motley was number 17 before he became captain and also when he was captain. Denis Errey wore number 1 when Motley was captain and then swapped to 14 when Cahill became captain.

I didn't think that Stephen Williams ever captained Port.

And Kym Kinnear was also a Rosewater plaer as was Bruce Abernethy and Ross Agius.

You're spot on mate. My error. ;) He did lift the Thomas Seymour Hill trophy on 3 occasions though as coach (well, 2.5 times to be precise - 1996, just half a season). :)

Brian Cunningham also wore No.2 when he was vice captain under Ebert in 1983, his final year.

I remember an article about Bucky in the late 70's early 80's in which he said he was a natural right footer but his hero was John Cahill so practiced every day kicking on his left foot so it became natural.

Thats interesting if he was indeed a natural right footer. I know he was great either side, but I would have bet money he was a left footer.
