Looking for a couple of games in the mid 90's Central vs Port at Elizabeth

Port up by anywhere between 4-6 goals at three quarter time, Central come home to win by around a goal. Was the last game my little bro saw before he passed away.

Also similar circumstances Central vs North at Elizabeth Dogs down by 6 goals at 3/4 time quicked around 10 in the last to win by a few goals. Old man didnt take me that day, i saw on the ABC telecast we were down by 6 goals and still decided to sneak out the house and make it for the last quarter.

I can vagely recall a game similar to the one you mentioned re Centrals vs. North - maybe the same game?

North were up by 36 or so points at 3/4 time, possibly more maybe 42 points (or either we kicked the first goal early in the last quarter from memory and were around 42 points up then) when I turned to a mate and said this one is in the bag and he got angry for my comment believing North could lose it from there and sure enough we did lose by 7 points from memory and he blamed the loss on me making that statement!

As if it was my fault?

Sounds pretty similar was around the mid 90's.

The old man promised me he would take me down to the game at very least 1/2 time. Then he said 3/4 time but when he saw we were down by 6 goals he wasn't interested in going. Then came one of my famous dummy spits so he sent me to my room. I managed to get out the window and get to Elizabeth Oval 5 mins in to the last. I went and stood on the Northern End hill behind the goals where we were kicking. We won the game and i started making my way around the oval to walk home. I got to the outer wing where a punch up between two guys was going on. As any young kid i stopped to watch, to my surprise it was old man he had come down to the ground looking for me and ended up in a brawl, not sure why even to this day!

Thanks 1 down 1 to go.

There you go a few things surprise me, 1/ i thought we ended up winning by more than a goal maybe i have the north and port margin mixed up 2/ i always felt there was a really large crowd there but obviously not with only a crowd of 3239. I reckon Central kicked with a pretty strong breeze as there was a 'feeling' at the ground that we should come back a bit.

I wonder if the Port game im trying to remember was in the same year i think we had a few comebacks around the same period of time.

I was only 14 yo then geez time has flown.

You can search here for any game in Central's existence (up to late 2010), although it doesn't provide best players and goalkickers:

Other clubs' result since early 1900's (to late 2010) can be found here:

Awesome i definatly have parts of either game mixed up because that looks like the big crowd i was thinking was at the North game i mentioned earlier.

Is there a way i can get the full copy of that game. IIRC for the last 5 mins of the game there were kicked lined up on the inside of the playing arena all the way from the northern goals to outer wing, we were positioned inside the fence in front of the scoreboard, we were in the centre of the ground celebrating before the players were once the siren went.

I remember this day well. A very cold change came through in the last quarter & it snowed from Clare all the way through the mid north, the Mount Lofty Ranges & further south.
