Randall Gerlach

I'm not a Port man, but "Catalyst" the ABC Science/Medicine Program featured Randall last night. He played footy with pretty serious kidney disease and has been on dialysis for years. The program was concerned with his quest for a transplant from his 29 year old daughter. I found the program quite inspiring. The transcript can be found here:

From what I can recall, he was told to give the game away either after the '76 season
or prior to the start of the '77 season. It was well known about his health and he
was a member of Port's '77 flag. I think he retired immediately after the match.

Would have retired after the '76 GF had Rick Davies not spoiled the party.

But he got his cherished premiership in the end.

coached us at hahndorf for a year and i think he moved onto christies beach :D
