only have found west torrnes club song. need the woodville warriors old club song for an ice hockey game. the jersey posted is of the Woodland (a neighborhood in dc) Warriors. the jersey is base off of the woodville woodpeckers jumper from 1968-1982. decided on warriors because it sounds better then woodpeckers. the other jersey is of the north fairfax kangaroos. base off of the 1911, 1913, 1918-21 north melbourne kangaroos jumper. would wear those jerseys during an anzac day game in april 2015 (for the 100th anzac day). timmy

Seriously, how good would a footy-ized version of "The Woody Woodpecker Song" have been as the club song?
Her-huh-he-her-huh!

Woodville did have such a song back in the Peckers days, did they not? I reckon I read that somewhere... doubt I ever heard it, since that would have involved seeing the Peckers win

Yeah, Dad (Torrens supporter) has talked about them playing the "Her-huh-he-her-huh!" woodpecker song at Woodville Oval when the team ran out on the field. Probably why it took him about 8 years to warm to the idea of going to Woodville Oval to support the home team after the merger!
Before the start of the '83 season, my cousin changed allegiance from Port to Woodville coz of Blighty.
Tried like mad to get my impressionable young mind to switch, too.
That song might've swayed me...

Come on you peckers, Come on you peckers That's the Woodville Woodpeckers song. Come on you peckers, Come on you peckers And we're singing it all day long.
McAlmanac still belts it out occasionally after a few shandys.

The ABC 891 has been banging that out in their Tuesday (?) sportswrap with Sonya Feldhof and Barry Ion. They play it as the intro music each and every week. It's godawful. However, I think it's actually better than listening to Ion provide his pearls of wisdom in sport. Terrible.

Barry played 20 games for WFC in 1967-68 according to WWT history. He and his son Sam released the motivational hit 'The Eagles is Angry' on CD after the 2004 grand final debacle (120+ point loss to Central) complete with 'Eagles is Angry' gold T shirt. Still worn underneath the polo shirts on match day by some I know. It worked of course, we eventually knocked off the Dogs. The WFC 'Come on ya Peckers' can still be purchased as a 45rpm, there is currently one in the Antiques Market in Grote Street. It was released under the Amoco (petrol retailer in the 60s) label, with mini 2 minute 27 seconds history as spoken by Jim Chamings on the B side and the grand old song on the A side.

Only 20 games? Wow. I thought he'd played a fair chunk more than that following transferring from Footscray. He played in the Bulldogs' last grand final side. That's a looooong time ago.

He suffered injuries including a knee problem that ended his playing days early. Was only about 25. Also, in my post above I was ungrammatical - it should have been the 'Eagle is angry' - didn't have my glasses on.
