North's record at Alberton

Today was the 22nd time that I have seen North win at Alberton.

I doubt that most other clubs have won there 22 times in their history.

Why do North play so well at Alberton?

The only two theories I can come up with are :

a) North don't have to drive past the Cheltenham Cemetery to get to Alberton

b) Alberton's sandy surface suits North's traditionally fast, run on, high marking style of footy.

I wish North could match Port as often at other grounds.

Anyone else got any clues?

Yep, you're an old bastard ... plus both Prospect and Alberton aren't straight

I ain't that old.

Put it this way, I'm still a fair way off being an old age pensioner. I am sure that even if I were 120 years of age I wouldn't have seen too many of the other clubs win more than 20 times at Alberton.

I think the modern Eagles have won at Alberton more times than Torrens and Woodville did combined.

Woodville probably only ever won there once or twice

centrals wouldnt have lost too many times there this century. that would give them more than 10, so it wouldnt surprise me that they had a lot more than 22

obviously someone like norwood would too.

interesting question is who has the best away record at a venue? might be impossible to find those stats out.

i would probably guess centrals at south just because when centrals were bad south might just have been bad enough to let them have a win haha.

that, or port/norwood at centrals

If you do it by Ovals then it might well involve Woodville Oval, given the Peckers/Warriors copped their fair share if defeats

According to the Footy Budget, North have won 33 times at Alberton which is a lot more than any other club. Norwood have won there 21 times in their history and Central 17 times.

Certainly it has been easier to win at Alberton in the last few years, but I would be interested in the other clubs records at Alberton.

As I said I have seen North win 22 times at Alberton and I am in my 50s. So I have seen North win at Alberton more times than Norwood or Central have ever won there.

I just find it a strange quirk that North can perform so well at Alberton and yet struggle so badly against Port at other venues.
