LL or someone, can u remember this?


Many moons ago Super was found guilty of attempted striking (he missed) and missed both the Bays losing finals that year.


(I can't remember if Glenelg took it to the supreme court.....)

I can remember the Bays investigated whether they could claim both the magoos and league games as a match each, but that didn't work.

1984 during the Qualifying Final against Central. He then missed the 2nd Semi against Port and Prelim against Norwood.
I also can't remember if the Bays took it further (eg: Supreme Court) but I know that Graham Campbell to this day claims it cost them a flag. Probably the most ridiculous charge ever invented "attempting"(WTF) to strike.

Carey's charge was lesser than Cupido's. Therefore if Cupido got a game, Super should have got a slap on the wrist.

In a perfect world Cupido would have got a reprimand, and Super wouldn't even have fronted the tribunal.

I disagree, I think attempting to hit someone as opposed to not hitting someone nor attempting to hit someone is definately a much worse charge.
I saw the Carey incident and I saw the Cupido incident, both live and both on TV and both from a non-biased point of view (if anything I was hoping for a Glenelg win last week).
Not even comparable, you're clutching at straws or are so biased that you shouldn't be commenting on either incident if you claim otherwise.

I don't care what he was up on a charge of, he did nothing nor attempt to do anything, anyone that calls that a strike is following the wrong game or has vested interest in not liking South.
I don't care what charge and umpire made nor do I care about what resulted in that charge when it comes to assessing the 2 incidents.
Common sense is the only thing Im interested in when it comes to comparing the 2 incidents.

And that doesn't even take into account that players regularly got games for attempting to strike in the early 80s where in the 00s players can rape, pillage and murder and not get a game.

Correct me if I am wrong but didnt Carey get reported the year before or after for striking around finals time - found guilty but repremanded -- Seem to recall at time discussion that attempting was more serious than actual

The funny thing is that if 'attempted striking' was still a suspendable offence then Cupido would definitely have gone, iirc. From the reply on the news following the verdict he definitely took a swing at McConnell, and a big one* at that.
