South - best attacking club this year - 1st time since 1940

Prior to the finals series North held a 10 point lead over South - 2443 to 2433. Or on average 122.15 to 121.65.
At the completion of the finals series, it was South who had the better average (119.55 to North 118.35).
This is the first time since 1940 that South have had the best attack on average in the league. They have broken a 6 season run by Central. 119.55 points is the highest average in a season since Port in 1993 who had an average of 123.43 points per match.

Before the finals series Central had the best defence in the league - 1698 points to Eagles 1715 points.
At the completion of the finals series it was the Eagles who had the best defence, 1934 points to Central 1952. This is both over 23 matches; the average being 84.09 to 84.67.
This is the first time since 2001 that the Eagles have had the best defence in the league; breaking a 4 year run by Central. It is the 5th year that the Eagles have had the best defence - 1993,1994,2000,2001 and 2006. 84.09 points is the highest best defence since 1994 when the Eagles had conceded 85.04 points per game.

West Adelaide had the worst attack this year - 1600 points (80.00) average. This is the 2nd year in a row that West have held this title (prior to this it was 1974 the last time). 80.00 is the highest worst attack since Sturt in 1994 when they scored 87.73 points per match.

Sturt had the worst defence this year - 2703 points (135.15) average. This is the first time that Sturt has had this title since 1996. 135.15 is the highest worst defence since Sturt in 1995 when they conceded 149.00 points on average.
