Not sure how many people are aware but back in the1930s it was not uncommon for celebrities to bounce the ball for the start of the game and then get the hell out of the way.

In this picture famous singer Peter Dawson, the Australian bass baritone who was regarded by many as the man who made Waltzing Matilda the anthem it is today bounces the ball for the start of the opening match of the 1933 season between Sturt and North at Unley (I think).

Original photo of Ken Farmer NAFC kicking his 1000th goal in league football Round 3 1938 V Norwood at Prospect Oval.

A now rare and expensive collectors postcard was made from this photo - proceeds from the sale of the postcard at the time went to Farmer's testimonial fund

I think I've read about it somewhere before. Would be good publicity now, but of course it won't happen.

Nice photo ML! Top stuff. I don't recognise the Sturt player but the North Player is Percy Furler (SA Hall of Famer and NAFC Team of the century).
