I remember eons ago, the Bays played another team (maybe a WAFL team?) I think it was indoors on astroturf in Canada.

Pretty sure they showed it on Channel 9, KG was the commentator, and Chris McDermott did his knee and i think missed the next season (???)

Anyone else remember this?

I think you'll find it was South Australia vs Western Australia after the 1988 GF. The game was played in Vancouver Canada....

Cue Spellcheck for the match details.....

I think you'll find it was Nunan's first game in charge after the Cornes dynasty....

What do you know we lost......

Going by the newstext summaries (I'm too tight-arsed to buy an actual article) it was in Vancouver, WA won by 7 points, only 1800 people turned up, the Perth-based financiers lost $350K.

Think you'll find the 88 state game at Footy Park against WA was the first game that Nunan was state coach.

What do you know we won.....

Speaking of SA versus WA State games...
I think it was either '84 or '85 when some peanut flicked a gasper into the Sandgroper's
Patty-Dukes (Floggers) thus igniting them, burning a huge patch of grass at Footy Park's Northern end.

Canadian hoser's astroturf would just melt eh?

I don't recall that... but I do remember the SA cheer squad floggers catching fire at the northern end in a game vs. Vic, woulda been 1980 or 81.

I also remember the Panthers floggers catching fire at the southern end in 85 or 86.

One more good reason for kids to not smoke!

Speaking of Nunan's record as coach any idea how many games he won as coach and lost?
I thought he had one of the best records of all time and don't remember him losing a game (except for the exhibition game if that was the case)?

And agreed it was definately SA v WA, did Bone do a knee in that game or am I thinking of another?

Whoops, I missed that part of Bayman's post (got the hint from yours though  )
Its funny how things stay in your memory though.
Would have been more memorable if someone called Knee had done their bone though!

That was probably the game WA beat us by a point at Footy Park. Probably one of the worst results (not highest margin, but worst result), i can remember, think it was 84.
