Same rules apply from the other thread, but they must have came from the VFL, VFA, WAFL or TFL first.

I'll do Torrens first:
F: Primmer Tierney Morphett
HF: Muir Johnston Barrott
C: Cassin Shearman Wallace
HB: Elliott Grambeau Taylor
B: Bartlett Carey Christensen
R: Sarau Galt Birt
Int: Schimmelbusch Keast Thoms
Coach: Reynolds

I think Fragomeni was from WAFL so he could probably fit into a back pocket or on the bench.

Ambrose could probably slot into full back.

Not sure there'd be room for Wes Fellowes though

C: Birt Shearman Wallace

Is that Neil Hawke spelly? I think he started off at Port, then to the WAFL, then to Torrens, would he still qualify?

John Birt was a rover, and certainly one of the best of his era. He never played wing.

If they played for a VFL U17s side before coming here does it count?
Or if they came originally from another SANFL team and went to the VFL and then came back to another SANFL team?

Three best and fairests (including a premiership year), two premierships - even leading goalkicker one year. One of the best credentialled players ever to come to SA.

I reckon Dirk Inglis would get in that side. Even Robbie Muir!

As an aside, West Torrens would have to have had the most Victorian coaches of any SA club. Dick Jones, Dick Reynolds, John Birt, Bill Barrott, Noel Teasdale, Glenn Elliott.

Yes. I wasn't sure who to put in that spot, so I put him in there. But if we want to be strict about the rules, they must have played senior VFL or WAFL matches before coming to the club and must be the first club to be played for in the SANFL. So, I'll take Hawke out and put Muir in.

So that lays the ground rules for Wedgie and McAlmanacs' queries - i.e. Inglis did not play League for Essendon (I think that's where he came from)

Ok, you can include Tasmanians - they have produced many great footballers and deserve recognition for that alone.

McAlamanac, is that G Linke the player who was playing for South in the early 80's or a different player?

No, different.

Woodville's is Graeme Linke, solid defender recruited from Geelong, played a couple of seasons at Pecker Park, then went back to Victoria and played for Footscray.

South's is Geoff Linke, wiry full forward in South's 79 grand final side who played 2 games for St Kilda in 1982.

I haven't given it a lot of thought and await other Norwood fans to remind me of players I've overlooked :)

Also, this is a team of players I've seen, not reputation from a previous era.

F: Neil Balme, Ian Brewer, Stephen Rowe
HF: Greg Parke, Ross Dillon, Graeme Dunstan
C: James Thiessen, Peter Laughlin, John Cunningham
HB: Robert Neill, Stephen Kerley, Scott Direen
B: Brett Zorzi, Dale Fleming, Bob Kingston
Ruck: Matthew Primus, John Wynne (captain), Anthony Harvey
Int: Craig Balme, Anthony Eames, Des O'Dwyer

Stephen Rowe grew up in Norwood but played his 1st senior game with South Fremantle.
Technically, we recruited Haydn Bunton from Swan Districts in 1965, but he had played for the club previously, so I left him out.

Special mention to two prize recruits:
Sid Simeon: recruited from Perth, played 1 game in round 1 1965. Rose to stardom when, having played 2nds in the last minor round, jumped the fence and assaulted umpire Brian Lees after a league match, was gaoled for 10 days and never played for the club again.
Geoff Clark - recruited from Subiaco in 1978. Rose to stardom as an aboriginal activist who was elected chairman of ATSIC in 2002. He was later found guilty of having led 2 pack rapes in 1971 and is currently appealing the court's findings. claiming the procedure as "perverse". What a wolf man.

Not sure David Bolton played a league game for Geelong before coming to Woodville. Also, how close was Barry Ion?

Brian Adamson?

Quite right. Couldn't fit him into CHF which was his specialist position. Ross Dillon was a clearly superior player. I also forgot David Armour .. silly me :)
