According to Wikipedia Woodville won a night flag in 1972.

This is news to me. Can anyone (glances at McAlmanac) tell me the details?

They'd mean the Coca Cola Cup which was played on a knock out basis between teams that didn't make the then final 4. Woodville 13.15 d West Torrens 12.15 in the Final.

Certainly more reliable

So I'm guessing that 9th and 10th didn't participate in the Cup (going by those scores).

This is John Cahill being chaired off after the 73 final (which was his final match)

For the train spotters - Randall Gerlach, Bob Kingston, Kevin Beswick, Trevor Sorrell (?) and Trevor Grimwood are the others.

The 1973 Final was also Glen Pill's final match for West Torrens. He was a pretty handy player as well.

L-R: Ian Haley (mascot), Ron Page (ex Sth Melb), Ray Huppatz (four time best and fairest, 10 State games), Rodney Allen (Woodvile's first 200 gamer), John O'Connor (rover across 10 years), Graham Mitchell (I think), Eddie Holland (holding trophy - 1 State game). Jim Brenton (head sticking up - 1972 NWS9 Rookie of the Year), Greg Cox (back pocket, partly obscured), Ralph Sewer (living legend), Frank Stemper (two time best and fairest).

Moorook used to wear the same Dogwatcher, they changed because of the clash with Brown's Well.

I know Supa, that's why I love 'em. All retro.

We were talking about them the other night.
I also found out why we were called The Beetles in the past.
Apparently it came about in 1963 - at the height of Beatlemania! Might explain Scads still having a mop top. lol
Pretty funny really.

Your saying Scads was on a back flank in 1963.

When they changed to Warriors I was at Brown's Well and I remember a few of them referring to Moorook as the Soldier Beetles

He probably was!

Soldier Beetles - I'll ask about that one.
Maybe as the relevance of The Beatles waned, they were trying to toughen up the image a bit!

About the time Tom Graetz would have joined, which would make him a sort of Yoko Ono.

hmmmm...harsh.
probably not a yoko - he didn't break the club up.
Being an elder statesman of the club, he could be a bit of a Brian Epstein...

No you misinterpreted me Dogwatcher.

What Tom and Yoko have in common is that they ended the Beatles / Beetles and all concerned went on to better things.

Doesn't matter bring on the footy season.

I gotcha now. Although I'm not sure if Yoko went on to better things - have you seen any of her work??? lol

And yes....bring on the footy season. I'm really looking forward to the carnival this weekend.

Maybe we should stop hijacking this thread too...
