Most clubs you can buy the original version from an AFL club, the Eagles is available from all goods childrens shops (Little Peter Rabbit), if you want an original club song, North's is available from the club's office at Prospect Oval.

For those that care, all nine WAFL club songs are available from the WAFL website at http://www.wafootball.com.au - there are some real shockers amongst them!

Copyright issues? depends - are you going to start a league with nine teams and use them as their theme songs?!? =)

I have them somewhere at home ...

Yes do some research James H. Even "Studley" Cornes rates North's song (out of all club songs Austrlaia wide) the best because it is original, catchy and not stolen from the VFL. He also rates Tigerland (which I actually like) but sadly Glenelg have stolen that from Richmond.

For info the North Club song CD contains all 4 versions of the Club song including the 60's version with the players singing it!

Agreed with the above, 7 clubs nicked their songs from the VFL, one nicked theirs from a nursery rhymes book and North are the only club with originality. :D

Well, it's the the Battle Hymn of the Republic... from the American Civil War.
BUT if people want to continue with the nursery rhyme thing, go for it.

Just so everyone knows :

Eagles - "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" - during the American Civil War
Tigers - "Row Row Row" from the Broadway musical Ziegfield Follies
Sturt, Norwood - "You're a Grand Old Flag" - US dedication to their flag
Port - "Notre Dame Victory March", the fight song for the University of Notre Dame.
West, Centrals - "The Yankee Doodle Boy" from the Broadway musical Little Johnny Jones.
South - "Lily of Laguna" by Leslie Stuart (We are the blue and white = She's my lady love)

Three songs based on American themes/battle songs
Two songs from musicals
One from a song around the turn of the century about love

And North with the only original song. God bless Johhny Mac and the City of Enfield Brass Band - that version was much better than the players deplorable orignal version!

Yes, I remember being awoken from a doze during a Year 10 History video when I heard the song, that was the most significant thing I learnt that day.

Exactly. Not doubting that.

Just think it's amusing to call our theme "Little Peter Rabbit" when originally it was used in the American Civil War - especially when there are other clubs with themes straight from musicals and love songs

:)
