Club streaks v Norwood at Parade

Postby - » Sat May 05, 2007 1:22 am

Spelly,

North have the chance to make it 5 in a row against Norwood at the Parade in July. Excluding Neutral matches eg Nafc V Sfc 1997 what is the highest amount of wins in a row for a club at the parde v Norwood?

2ndly is 1997 nafc v sfc the last neutral match at the venue?

And as I asked on the SANFL board, what's North's record under lights there and when was the last time they lost under lights there?

Sturt holds the record - 9 wins in a row at Norwood - Round 4 1909 to Round Round 3 1920.

Also:
Sturt won 6 games in a row - Round 11 1966 to Round 16 1971.
North won 6 games in a row twice - Round 7 1966 to Round 12 1971 and Round 18 1986 to Round 19 1990.
Port won 6 games in a row - Round 14 1910 to Round 7 1919.
Eagles have a current streak with 5 in a row from Round 21 2003.
West won 5 games in a row - Round 3 1959 to Round 20 1963.

No. There were two neutral matches in 1997 at Norwood, that was the first, the second was in Round 6 - Eagles vs South

The neutral matches at Norwood over the years have been:
Round 16 1936 - South vs Torrens
Round 13 1946 - Glenelg vs Torrens
Round 16 1948 - South vs North
Round 15 1963 - Torrens vs North
Round 20 1964 - Torrens vs Port
Round 2 1997 - Sturt vs North
Round 6 1997 - Eagles vs South

what about the 1st semi final of 1973?

It was played between North and Norwood and supposedly neutral. Norwood came from elimination and still got the home ground.

Can anyone help as to why the game was played there.

Geez, spelly should start charging for his service!
I can tell you from 1907 thanks to Phil H's stats that exactly 100 matches have now been played between North and Norwood.
Norwood have won 62, North have won 35 and 3 draws have happened.

First year of a final five and as there was no footy park two ovals were needed as there was also no Sunday football. Norwood was the only suburban ground considered suitable. The fact that Norwood got the home ground advantage is merely a coincidence.

Wasn't there a streak at Norwood by a Port supporter 2 or 3 years ago?
