Cute arithmetical scoring

Seeing Norwood's 'close, but no cigar' quarter by quarter scores in the U/19s against Sturt last weekend (1.2, 3.3, 4.4, 5.5), makes me wonder: has any team ever produced the perfect game of a quarter time score of 1.1, 2.2 at half-time, 3.3 at lemon time and 4.4 at the final siren? Spelly- weave your magic.

PS Not really a question as I don't know how you'd define the record, but more of an observation: Norwood's U/19s (who have lost every game) have an amazing ability to make their results deviate only very slightly from the mean of a 10 goal loss. This year, they've had losses by 65, 54, 54, 61, 60, 76, 55 and 78. Their only 2 results that bucked the trend were both 29 point losses.

No, North has gone the closest for that symmetrical set of scores, in that the goals and behinds have been the same in all quarters, and closest to that requirement of yours.

Round 10 1956
West 2.4 5.8 7.15 9.16 (70)
North 1.1 2.2 2.2 4.4 (28)
Prospect, 7100

The only time a team has gone 1.1, 2.2, 3.3 in the first three quarters of a match was this one:

Round 12 2006
South 5.8 8.16 20.17 24.18 (162)
Port 1.1 2.2 3.3 8.7 (55)
Noarlunga, 3607

I guess the other point you brought up may just be a quirk - we might need to go into standard deviation mode or something to produce a stat out of it - then you need to define the parameters around it. ;)

Dear spelly, has any team ever had a complete scoring record such that the four quarter scores, read as goals, behinds; goals, behinds; goals, behinds; goals, behinds; been equal to the first 8 terms of the Fibonacci sequence?

Solve that one and I'll be impressed 8)

The answer to that question is that there hasn't been any.

This match had the first six numbers:

Round 13 1957
Glenelg 0.1 1.2 3.5 4.8 (32)
Torrens 1.2 1.7 2.9 2.9 (21)
Adelaide, 5473

No team has been on 1.2 at half time and finished on 8.13 at full time. No team has been on 3.5 at 3 quarter time and finished on 8.13 at full time.

I've been looking out for this in the other grades, and I'm still yet to come across it.

If it hasn't happened in the SANFL's grades, then it bound to have happened somewhere anyway. I'd like to know where, as I found that question of Pseudo's quite interesting.
