I think 2002 was the last time when they lost to Sturt in the Preliminary Fianl at Adelaide Oval.

definitely 2002 , we lost the 1st semi final to them by 4 points

Although that year, the only time Central, Sturt and Norwood lost to anyone below 3rd was Norwood losing to West in Round 20. That final was the equal closest anyone got to those three clubs in that year. Sturt won the preliminary; 17.15 to 10.8, and that as said, is the last time Norwood has played in a final.

And then the Blues went on to beat Centrals in the Grand Final.
