Anything to do with the history of the SANFL

F.D. Errey

Postby zipzap » Wed Aug 01, 2007 2:54 pm

I have some students researching the history of Marryatville Primary School. They found a book with a foreword by former principal F.D. (Denis) Errey. Is he the same F.D. Errey who is a life member for the Port Adelaide Football Club and a commentator in the 70s? Does anyone know if he is still around, or better yet, is contactable?

One and the same. I was selling school books back in the early 80's and met him. Really nice bloke.
Don't know how to get in contact with him but he was working with the ABC up until "fairly" recently.

thanks LL. Another teacher today told my students he had passed on, but I think he may have been pulling their collective leg. I dunno. Would appreciate any further information.

Yeah i'm fairly sure he passed on about 5 or 6 years ago. I've got a vague memory he lived in Goolwa although i'm not certain of this.

Thanks guys. Surely there's a Port supporter who might know for sure?

There was a Michael (???) Errey who played for Port - mainly reserves IIRC in the 80s. I assuming a relation.

Mick came to Glenelg with Chocco to help out with the Reserves coaching duties.

Macca, Booney, MP, GWW or Fatal can you confirm???
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I reckon I had a footy budget poster of Michael Errey stuck up in my bedroom. This was back in the days when I'd stick up ALL posters regardless of team, I was too young to discriminate. Had a poster of Blighty too. And Bob Beecroft. Darned if I can remember who else.
