Playing an opponent not long after meeting them the last time is nothing new:

There have been 101 occasions where two sides met 3 rounds apart, and 167 occasions where two sides have met 4 weeks apart, up to the start of this season.

The last occasion that this had happened was in 1978.

Port V South this year spelly,Round 14 and 18,both at Carlunga.

Heres one for you spelly, Glenelg have not had a bye between Round 8 and 20, is this unusual? Glenelg have played 11 games in a row

Dutchy, Central has played 12 in a row very unusual draw for the Bays and Central ????????????

Yeah. that list and info was up to the start of this season. North and Norwood also played each other in the same rounds.

It's the first time that Central has had more than 9 matches between byes (12 - between Rounds 4 and 15 this year)

Eagles had 14 matches between byes in 2003 - Rounds 9 to 22
Also, 11 matches between Rounds 2 and 12 2004

Glenelg had 10 between Rounds 4 and 13 1997
As well as 11 matches between Rounds 5 and 15 2005
And the 11 matches Dutchy pointed out this year between Rounds 9 and 19

North and Port since 1991 has never had more than 9 matches in a row in the minor round

Norwood has had 10 matches in a row between Rounds 11 and 20 1997
11 matches in a row between Rounds 3 and 13 2000
10 matches in a row between Rounds 11 and 20 2001

South had 13 matches in a row between Rounds 2 and 14 1997
11 matches in a row between Rounds 6 and 16 1999

11 matches in a row between Rounds 11 and 21 2005

Sturt had 11 matches in a row between Rounds 5 and 15 2000

West had 10 matches in a row between Rounds 3 and 12 1997

Note that all of these instances have come in a 23 round (20 match) season.

3 matches between byes on these occasions:
Eagles - Rounds 4 and 8 2003

Glenelg - Rounds 4 and 8 2002

North - Rounds 4 and 8 1997
Rounds 11 and 15 2006
Rounds 3 and 7 2007

Norwood - Rounds 6 and 10 1997

South - Rounds 17 and 21 1999
Rounds 17 and 21 2003

Sturt - Rounds 14 and 18 2007

West - Rounds 12 and 16 2007

Port and West meet in Round 23 of this year, 17 rounds after their last meeting. This is the 2nd longest break between matches, Central and Woodville met in Rounds 2 and 20 in 1969.

There have been 8 occasions where the gap between meetings is 16 rounds, 1 in 1928 between Torrens and Sturt (Rounds 1 and 17), a full round in 1954 (Rounds 2 and 18), Port and South in Rounds 3 and 19 1969, Norwood and Glenelg in Rounds 4 and 20 1969, and Central and North in Rounds 6 and 22 of last year.

I'm being quite serious.

Spelly, just wondering if a team may have played another three times in the space of three or four games? For instance, late in the minor round plus perhaps a Second Semi plus GF?
