Yes great game, will never forget the free kick paid against Ablett (just ouside the goal square) with only seconds to go in the last quarter. A goal then would have put them in front.

Went to that game - electric.

Wangas had the ball on a string in the first quarter.

Got the last quarter on VHS.

Might have to dust it off again...

Awesome game, probably don't appreciate how lucky you are to attend games like this until down the track ... From memory Ablett kicked a snap that produced gasps of awe and then silence from the crowd.

I'm pretty sure I attended this game. I think Mark Harvey took out Tony Francis pretty dirty? How could we lose with smarts, harts and champions in the back line.

I was there! Was in year 12 at the time. Sat behind the northern goals. Was with a heap of mates - who all put their heads down when Ablett took that mark. I saw the push and was the only person calling "in teh back, in teh back!". My mates lifted their head to see the ump give Smart the free and save the game.
Very pumped.

To top it off - it was the first time my mate had driven anywhere other than to school and back.
We turned off Grand Junction Road to drive up Main North, and found ourselves heading the wrong way up that road with traffic coming towards us. Scary.

LMAO!

Done that before.

Had a convoy follow me as well.

Looked in the mirror as there they all were, driving across the median strip to safety...

Is that the game where Kernas struggled a little because he'd lost a contact lense?

I've got highlights on the game of a video, which also features Mick McGuane's scintillating run and yet another Modra hanger.

On the topic of Modra's hangers, 93-94 were his golden years

I went to a match v Fitzroy at Football Park (93 I think) where he turned the game in the second half with about 3 hangers .... superb stuff

And remember that mark against North Melbourne in that classic match at Football Parl around round 8 or so of 1993?

Memories .....

Thats how SOO was and still should be it was one of the most awesome games that i have ever seen. I was gutted that Victoria didn't win but we stuck it right up ya's the next year. memories of the Big White V still are with me. I wish the AFL would listen to the fans. I believe any half decent footballer would give their left nut for a go at SOO anything to represent their state.

The look on the face of EJ said it all, didn't it.
