It's a furphy that less cricket was played this year.
In 2012/13, there were 62 sides in the 6 LO comps, who played in 31 draws (x2 teams / draw = 62 misses, or exactly 1 per side).
So of the 18 weeks scheduled for cricket, we played on average, on 17 of them.
In 2011/12, there was 21 weeks of cricket for the 2-day comp, and 18 in the LO comps.
Once again looking at LO draws (as it is the simplest way to easily determine if there was a heat or washout), of the 60 teams, there were 118 draws (x2 teams per game = 236 missed), by 60 teams = 3.933 days lost per team.
So on average the 2 day comp played 17.0667 days, and the LO comp played 14.0667 days.
Clubs who are blaming the revamped comp on decreased bar takings this season are clutching at straws.
