Agree with McQueen that we didnt always see eye to eye, but I have great respect for the HUGE effort that he put into the PDCA over many years...

I wouldn't think that he'd go anywhere, I was just surprised that you would advertise for a coach, I thought Jamie's cricketing wisdom would not warrant anyone else. I'm involved with Smithfield.

I would think that the best twenty or so players from the PDCA would slot straight into B Grade district at least. The problem that we have faced over the last couple of years is there have been 3 clubs in div.1 that have broken away from the pack and have dominated the competition. Why do you ask, Pumba

sounds like a resonable standard, im pretty new to this and i dont know much about the local cricket comps. so i take it that majority of those 20 players play for SW, SC and BL? is the gap widening or will it be a more even competition this season?

Two Wells are always around the mark, they have the $$ to throw around and attract players. Salisbury West have excellent juniors that come through the ranks and become accustomed to senior cricket at young ages, last season their top 4 teams were in div's 1, 2, 4 & 6. A pretty good effort. Sandy Creek are the other seasoned performers in grade 1. Brahma Lodge earnt their way into Grade 1 last year and made the finals with a relatively young side, I think they'll be better for the experience for 2008/09.
Virginia won the Grade 2 GF last season after only losing one game for the year, they will do allright IMO in Grade 1, if they can maintain the same side, Rose & Crown will need to pick up a couple of players if they are to get back to being the force they were early in the millenium, One Tree Hill have recently lost a stack of players, they did however manage to keep their spot in Grade 1 but will need a couple of players to return or recruit to be competitive. ATCO is the other team in Grade 1, they played in the Grade 2 GF last season and have apparently lost a couple of players, it could be a tough year ahead for the boys from ATCO.

Played Grade 1 the last 3-4 years ? Maybe not 20 but at least 12-15. 2 years ago, Salisbury West alone had 7 that had played A & B Grade district cricket.

Huitema does. he wouldn't be in the top 20 for the PDCA. Besides, how would you know, when was the last time Paralowie played higher than grade 3, have you ever played district?

Here are some players that spring to mind straight off the top of my head.

Ellis
Stamatovich
McCarthy
Searle
K.Thomas
P.Thomas
Frackowski
Beazleigh
Fuller
Roberts
Burden
Radcliffe
Hands
Ozolins
McInnes
Sewell
McIntyre
Sibbick
McConnell (fully fit)
Seccafien
Hannun
Ritzema
P.Graham (with some specialist bowling coaching, this kid is quick)

Given the dedication and training, I'm sure most of these would push B's. I am a bit rusty on div.1 atm, I've probably added some that shouldn't be there and missed some that should

Hey C18, B Grade district isn't that much chop, hence the p!ss poor performances of the Redbacks, too many clubs means too many players get A grade games so the standard from district to state level is worlds apart, far different in NSW & Vic.

For sure.....its all kids, with big heads !

Granted a few of the hard wicket slappers would get caught out on turf......a season to adjust would see them more than competitive. A lot of people worry about looking good out there and that is their downfall.

Too many guys are unworthy and get A Grade games.
