Lofty C grade will have some wiley old characters dropping back and could be a threat later in the year when the whips are cracking

As this is a footy forum good to see North Adelaide GM Glenn Elliott suiting up for the HCA red and whites also

As as SCIB ambassador I figured I might set a few thing straight about the Tarque comments earlier,Im not sure where they came from they are total crap.Hes going well at Glenelg at the moment but I dont think the Redbacks are looking at him just yet !! Hes still involved at SCIB land and will hopefully front back here when he finishes at Glenelg, probably as coach once again.Hes still bowling quick and is pretty fit. Hunter was going to play at Glenelg with him but hasnt even been to a training, hence played at Uraidla yesterday.
Like many sides the SCIBBY'S are gonna struggle a bit in the 1's this year, having lost Mohor,Maidment,Thomas & Muirden from last year.Basically we have a really young side with a few old blokes.Bruce Dawes +Aldridge should be back 2nd game + a new guy from the footy club who can bowl wit h good heat, which is much needed in Tarque's absence.
As for being courageous enough to field a D grade Im not sure what thats supposed to mean ? We have shit loads of players and had guys missing out yesterday even with 4 or 5 to come back into the A's.

Yeha I noticed Hunter yesterday scored 140 for Uri's, on the racetrack mind you, lightening quick....why was it reported int he Advertiser that he was playing at the bays? not the first time though, he trained at East Torrens a few years ago only to head back up the hill before the first game.

SCIB CC - better get a clearance for B Dawes if he is going to play - heard he is going to play where he played last year...

JQ - I believe SCIB's have fielded a D grade before, but many years ago. This would be their first D grade for quite some time I think.

Thanks Army.
SCIB CC - That was a sarcastic comment re your D grade. I thought it had been a long time since you'd had a d grade (if at all), and thought that such a strong club of recent years should have maybe had a d grade a few years earlier. Wasn't it A's and C grade only up until 2 or 3 years ago?

We have had A B C for quite some time,(10 years??)We did have a D grade many years ago and infact won a flag then went up to C's,cant remember exact year.We definitely wont be extra strong throughout the grades this year but its all about making sure the young blokes get a game.Like most clubs its a struggle to keep players interested. We have a lot of good players who just cant be bothered committing,so we have basically decided to play the guys who really want to play.
As for Bruce Dawes getting a clearance (Dutchy) he played one game for Mt Lofty C's last year with a permit from us,so hes still officially a SCIB.
Hunter told Tarque he would play wherever he played, which is why he was listed at Glenelg, they were definitely interested in getting him.

Probably a bit hard for Hunsie to do any pre-season stuff at the Bay as he only got back from Scotland last Wednesday having been playing cricket over there the past few months. Apparently wasn't aware that he was a listed Glenelg player? Still obviously in touch over winter to hit 142. Agree with SK ... bit unbelievable for Mt Barker, the biggest population base in the Hills not to be fielding an A-grade. Gee, Maccy fields 3 sides (I think) and Ironbank, Basket Range and Aldgate 4. So must be something going on that no-one wants to play at Barker?

Realise Hunsie has has been away,we were just hoping hed play at Glenelg.
4 sides for Basket Range is a good effort, there will be some big scores at that oval as the year roles on,it is lightning quick already.Cant imagine what it will be like after Xmas.
I wouldnt be surprised if some of the good sides got going you could see scores of 450-500.

thats incredible that Mt Barker cant get an A grade side up - how many team do they have?

Considering Stirling, Aldgate, Bridgey and Lofty added up would still probably have less population/area to draw on and theres 4 A grade teams!

Must be poor management, there can be no other reason - the town is big enough for at least 2 clubs

I can't re-iterate enough how poor that is on Mt Barker's behalf! Bugger me! As stated by others, almost every other club around is tiny in comparison to Mt Barker. I don't get it.
And with more and more HCA teams fielding 4 grades (I think they might all be now, except for Lofty???) it shows how much more the smaller town guys play for the mateship and fun, even if you're ringing in blokes on the day.

4 teams - Aldgate, SCIB, Happy Valley, Bridgewater, Basket Range
3 teams - Mt Lofty, Uri's, Onka's
2 teams - Meadows, Stirling, Mylor, Eastern Ranges
1 team - Stanley Bridge, Aldgate Hotel

thought Id do some research - well done to Baskets for getting 4 teams, Meadows suprises me that they cant get 3 teams? and Eastern Ranges should be playing B grade minimum, their C grade side has some fringe A grade quality players.
