My team played them on the weekend and lost. I'll ask the lads if that occurred.

Who do you play for Freaky?

Apparently, Modbury were good natured and competitive. Keen to win but not playing for sheep stations and no overt celebrations after the win on Saturday.

Ah, the LO6 plot thickens. Modbury have won all the games they have played, but are yet to play Port Districts or Mawson Lakes. So, Freaky, does that make you the captain of one of these two teams. Can you report back in a couple of weeks and tell us how the lesson went?

Have played them twice this season and didn't see any champagne or team meetings. 4 or 5 of their players should probably be playing in their B or C grade but they were ok blokes.

If you are from Mawson Lakes or Port Districts I don't think you are going to get anywhere near them.

I hope they are gaining permission from each club they beat to pop champagne at their ground, hate too see a retrospective fine be issued for bringing alcohol to an away ground without permission..

Definitely not Mawsons, anyway.
Port Districts forfeited against us last time - we're due to play them this week but the heat could shag that.

I think you will find that the MCC LO6s are a group of mates just having some fun, a hit of cricket and enjoying a few beers on a weekend. Knowing the blokes they certainly would be more interested in taking the P8ss out of eachother rather than the opposition.

still forecast for 41, if that doesnt change it takes the second innings component out of A1-B1 games.. With games that have already reached a result, would you call a gentlemans agreement and declare overnight and not bother with day 2's play? Eg. SPOC are 6/230 against Woody South, so essentially the players are turning up for 4 wickets play if the forecast doesnt drop to 39..

Both teams have an opportunity to get some additional points. For Woody South it will depend how important the 1.2 points are for them. Plenty of teams have missed finals or been relegated by less than 1.2 points over a season. Good opportunity to run around for an hour or so, build up a nice thirst and then sit back and watch the Ausiies smash the Poms at the MCG

I was only curious as to peoples thoughts. I get the whole bonus points side of it, just seems to me that if you play for 12 overs 4/50, seems pointless on a 41 degree day to play so 1 side gets 1.2 points and 1 side gets 0.5 points.. Would be a great day for the 6 blokes out already who have to go and watch the tail hit a few around then go home..

yeah, few games around in that scenario. I think Pembroke are 4 fa chasing 100 odd, so those 4 may as well get on it tonight.

Raises an interesting question. If two strong batting sides are playing each other, they are likely to make 250+ and play most of the 160 overs.
If two strong bowling sides are playing each other, they are likely to make say 140 each and only play 100ish overs.
Normally the two bowling sides then play a second innings, and the bonus points between the two games are relatively even. However, with no second innings, it really favours the strong batting sides who can continue to score points.

If there is some hot weather in the long term forecast, do you roll the dice and pick the extra bat over a bowler???
That said, it can certainly hurt you if you get stuck in the field on a 40 degree day and you're half a bowler short!

SACA have already called off all cricket below b grade. Would have thought the sensible thing for ATCA to do is follow suit, rather than wait and hope for a revised forecast at 5.30am Saturday morning

Why?
Enough cricket missed as is.
Final call will be at 9am.
Can't see the issue with the final call being tmrw morning.

Depends if they watered it overnight or not! ;-)

Nah, it's a fairly good deck, normally some big scores made out there.

I cant see the forecast being dropped back below 40 after being increased Thursday arvo.. Looks like another heat out for the grades below B1.. No change to A1- B1 besides extra drinks breaks?
