What about if the 20/20 comp gets played in the regular season 6 teams/grade 5x2 day 5 x 40 over 5 x 20/20 All for points. Whether we like it or not 20/20 is coming and will be popular as ever so why not embrace it now.

Smithfield 7/150 def. Craigmore 85. At least we won something for the year, it was a good comp, played in good spirits and brought 4 clubs closer together, all 4 clubs agreed to repeat it next season as we have a shield for it.

There was some real highlights throughout the comp, it was ran pretty well and we kept within the PDCA playing rules. We'll be getting together and naming a team of the series.

It was a good money spinner for all clubs involved.

Will the association look at bringing a T20 comp back in next season? Could be over a weekend rather than every wednesday which I think became more of a hassle in the end and took away the enjoyment.

I don't think they will, they might merge it into the proper season though. Depends on the AGM. It was a pain in the arse on Wednesdays, imagine Lodge vs Sandy @ Sandy for a 5:30pm start, I know it would suit one of your players.

Our one was held over three months on various Sundays, everyone played each other once, everyone hosted a double-header, supporters were strongly encouraged to not bring their own p!ss as the home club sold it very cheap, very profitable when it was your turn to host the game.

The beauty of it was that is only 4 sundays and we worked around association games etc, keeping it local meant more spectators.

i played the first year with rose and crown and by the end of it i was sick of it.. only because it was evry week, if done right and some prize money put up it could def work over a weekend

Too right, the novelty quickly wore off, at one stage we had 30 odd players putting their hand up, towards the end we were ringing around on the Wednesday, travelled out to Willaston one day after a heap of phone calls and no one was there, they apparently forfeited.

what about this one!! a bloke plays one game before christmas and then cant play untill the last 3 rounds due to work comitments, this week is heat effected and just say next week is washed out  , and he can only play 3 games instead of 4 to qualify... is that bad luck?

We wouldn't do that, we keep our numbers small and don't advertise, we always start the season off with 8 to 10 players per age group and gradually get it to 12 or 13 for the season, I'd rather have 10 than 13, you can play 12 but not 13, it sucks telling a kid he can't play for two weeks. We usually try and put the kid missing out in the seniors and we rotate the 13th man so no one does it twice.

In your second point, if you have proof of why the player was unavailable, you could apply to get the association to be granted a permit.

I think the 20/20 should be a seperate comp...

Like Catchit said, maybe each club puts in some coin and winners take all. Make for either a good profit for one club, or just a piss up! ;)

I think if they go to a 6 team comp there should be a five round one day comp, top 3 play in the finals, a five round two day comp, top 3 play in finals. There would still be enough time to squeeze in a T20 comp there somewhere.

6 team comp is the way to go and should be aligned all the way through very similar to adelaide turf - would still have a final 4 with only the bottom side being relegated and premier being promoted - with your B Grade following your A grade

based on current ladder

A1 B1

Salisbury West Salisbury West
Brahma Lodge Brahma Lodge
Virginia Virginia
Two Wells Two Wells
Sandy Creek Sandy Creek
One Tree Hill One Tree Hill

and so on with sides A & B Grades - C Grade and down you could look to do a similar structure as well

A genuine question, what was the reasoning behing an u/15 playing his first senior game for the year in a GF, was it lack of players, brilliant form. Just interested

A bit of a mistake there, his first senior game was actually the Semi Final in the B grade, all 3 senior teams made the finals, a top order batsman for the B's pulled out on the Saturday morning, no one from the C grade was keen to come up, so we put him straight in. He 2nd top scored and kept beautifully.

The B's were the only ones that went through, we gave all of the players that attended training on the Thursday a teamsheet to pick their eleven as all of a sudden a few of the C's wanted to step up for the big one and the player that pulled out wanted his spot back.

We went through all of the teamsheets and majority ruled, he got in. I had forgotten that he played in the semi, I checked on the reasoning why yesterday as we had a couple of footy vs cricket 20/20 games.

He had been playing district under 14's during the season and had great form in our under 15's. He is now batting at 3 and 4 for our A grade and is the keeper, he has just recently turned 15, he scored a half century while he was still 14 vs Angle Vale, probably the best attack in div. 2.

Yeah they do, they hang around when they get back from morning cricket listening in on any conversation hoping it is someone pulling out. Out of 13 under 15's, only 2 haven't played seniors yet, 2 have played A grade, 7 have played B grade and we hae also used our best two under 13's in the seniors, none of them have failed or been intimidated. Their form in the juniors has blossomed because of this too.

We've had a few cases where the opposition have asked if we want them to slow down for the kids, we do ask that they try and just pitch it up and no bodyline, apart from that, just play naturally. A few kids have been on the arse end of some short-pitched bowling through frustration.
