i honestly think if the kid is good enough to play 15s then good luck to him playing in under 13s finals..
the only thing i wouldnt agree on is the little fella who has to miss out for him..

what about this one!! a bloke plays one game before christmas and then cant play untill the last 3 rounds due to work comitments, this week is heat effected and just say next week is washed out  , and he can only play 3 games instead of 4 to qualify... is that bad luck?

We wouldn't do that, we keep our numbers small and don't advertise, we always start the season off with 8 to 10 players per age group and gradually get it to 12 or 13 for the season, I'd rather have 10 than 13, you can play 12 but not 13, it sucks telling a kid he can't play for two weeks. We usually try and put the kid missing out in the seniors and we rotate the 13th man so no one does it twice.
In your second point, if you have proof of why the player was unavailable, you could apply to get the association to be granted a permit.

i like it..
the kids love playing senior cricket

Yeah they do, they hang around when they get back from morning cricket listening in on any conversation hoping it is someone pulling out. Out of 13 under 15's, only 2 haven't played seniors yet, 2 have played A grade, 7 have played B grade and we hae also used our best two under 13's in the seniors, none of them have failed or been intimidated. Their form in the juniors has blossomed because of this too.

We've had a few cases where the opposition have asked if we want them to slow down for the kids, we do ask that they try and just pitch it up and no bodyline, apart from that, just play naturally. A few kids have been on the arse end of some short-pitched bowling through frustration.

its good batting with the young fellas and seeing there faces after evry over of them surviving..
love watching there confidence grow

Yeah mate, it's great, my 13 y.o old lad guided me in to my first ton, he was batting at 5 and came in when I was in the 70's, not being the most patient or technically correct batsman, he mananged to get me to keep my head for the last 20 odd runs, constantly reminding me that I haven't scored a ton before and my wife had.

Yep, it worked, I'm only about 6 tons behind my oldest lad. I can safely retire now that I've broken the shackles, only 1 wicket behind on our all time wicket takers list, being playing A's lately and the skipper hasn't given me a bowl, spewing. I don't mind finishing like that, Paul Vandongen was a great bowler for a long time at Smithfield, we only have records dating back to 1984, I'm pretty sure he played a season or two before that as a young fella, he deserves the no.1 spot.

Yeah, he's sitting 3rd, bought a house in November and is sanctioned to looking after his kids every 2nd week while his missus works, hasn't played this year. Still goes alright with the bat or the ball, a big loss this year.

284, 165 games, I've hardly bowled in the last 6 or 7 years, average of 12.6, my A grade stats are better, I've let it slip with age.

I don't like these formats, if you have 2 gun bowlers, they can bowl the whole innings, 15 to 20 overs isn't that hard for a fit bowler. By the time you start slowing, you're line and length should be spot on.
