- Clarendon is a sh!tty oval (I get a crazy rash from your sh!tty grass, dont get it at any other oval in the hills, but i'll admit thats my problem...)

- That older bloke (ex skipper?) who bowls hand grenades and is deaf and blind, yet umpires the majority of the innings

- I dont think one player wore full whites to the gf, one guy was even wearing singlet and shorts

- Finally, not even caring enough to show up and claim the premiership trophy...

Yeah we did have 60 players, nobody, including myself could commit for the entire season, we still got 11 on the field eveyweek and still had 13 or so qualify for finals, I dont see why this is a big deal.

I havent had any problems with the oval, thats just a personal thing I guess.

Cant argue about the old bloke, but every team has one, everyone gets s***t decisions against them or not called when bowling, to say we do it more than any other team is laughable. We complain to each other about how we feel we get shafted most weeks.

Does wearing whites really matter in C grade? I personally wore them, but who cares if he was wearing shorts, it was 38 degrees and they were white, nit picking?

Nobody could collect the trophy as the footy club had a trail match on where practically everyone was involved.

I have spoken to other sides and they didnt seem to have a problem with us, could it be a case of sour grapes? Im assuming alot of this whinging is coming from Algate, now I wonder why that was? Complain about the game where a decision went against you. I personally didnt see it as I had been dismissed but our batsmen was convinced it was a bump ball.

That was also the game was it not where we allowed sub fielders for an "injured" player, didnt see any batsman limp off mind you. Pretty generous considering the sub fielders were B graders (?) and had been sinking piss all day. Oh well at least we proved 2 weeks later it was no fluke.

I personally dont have a problem with Algate, some guys in our team do, but not me, I actually was able to have a shuckle with a few of them, just shits me with whinges like this, where I think alot of it is sour grapes.

SO far you have had Mylor, Aldgate and Lofty players complain against you...

When we played Clarendon, the opening bat didnt even field, 6 blokes in shorts, its a competitive league not backyard social cricket, your stumps and matting was pulled from a musuem, you didnt have a ball when we played you so instead of delaying the game while you went to get it we offered to use our Tuff Pitch ball and we would use yours when it arrived, 2 overs in it arrives but is a Kooka Practice  you field a kid as a sub which we agreed to and then 30 overs in the Capt asks me if he can bowl and they will name him and bat him in their line up, I agreed, of course the openeing bat arrives and duely pads up and wins the game for you and the kid never batted, when we were fielding abuse was coming from yoru players the whole 40 overs.....want me to go on?

You said you had 60 players during the year but couldnt organise 1 of them to turn up and get the flag and trophy? you said you had a footy trial, at 8pm on a Sunday night?

So what are you going to do when asked by the HCA to step up to B grade?

Are you from Lofty? I'm assuming you are talking about our home game. I didnt play that game, I had my engagement party down by the river so I cant really comment on anything that happened that game. Im not even sure who played that day. Hence why we were struggling for numbers and organisation that day as a majority of the players that day were just fill ins, most regulars were down with us.

I played, and captained, the first game we played at lofty, when it was rained out, I didnt think there was any problem there, dissappointed the game was called off as it looked like it was going to be a good one.

Cant argue with our matting and stumps, they are antique but they are all we have been given to use, we have been asking for something better so hopefully we can get something for next season.

We did have 60 odd players, but alot of them were guys who filled in for a couple of games. As I mentioned before we only had 13 qualify for finals. Most of them were involved in trials on the Sunday. Remember that Sunday was 37 degrees, the trial was initially planned for mid afternoon but was then delayed to a 7:30 start. Once the game was changed it left very little time to organise any of the few we had to get to presentation.

Aren't Clarendon effectively Kangarilla's C Grade ?

yes and no

we get our matting and wickets from Kangy, and most of us all play footy up there and most of us have all played Cricket for Kangarilla.

Kangarilla isnt the biggest supporter of Clarendon, thats why we were not in last year, as Kangarilla put their foot down to try and get guys to play for them instead of Clarendon.

Most of us dont want to play 2 day cricket, thats why we play at Clarendon.

Brag, yep probably just sour grapes, i play at Mylor, we missed out on the finals by one win after you beat Aldgate. Even tho we beat you the week before.

But that side we beat only had 3 guys playing from the side that belted us at Clarendon earlier in the year!
Little bit frustrating...

I was under the impression in finals you must wear full whites, but i just checked and you dont ahve to in C's.

Just on whites, how can Lofty get away with wearing red on their sleeves? Not that it seems to help them :P but that was approved by the association?

You guys certainly threw a spanner in our works. We thought we were done for after that result. Cant remember the reason why nobody could play that week, but we had so many weeks where big bunch of guys could not play, due to weddings and such.

It probably came in handy in the fact nobody really knew our best 11 but it definately wasnt planned that way.

Yes, Lofty are pretty much the only club who seek HCA approval for their shirts. I think with red as their colour they want to ensure it's all OK.

Or it could just be that we enjoy making them jump through more hoops than any other club.

I only bothered to ask approval because of this HCA Rule:

17. DRESS
a) All players will wear predominantly white clothing and in A1 and A2 Grade will wear long
white trousers. In finals matches any player not wearing predominantly white clothing shall
not be allowed to bowl or field in a position, which in the opinion of the umpire may be
distracting to the batsman. Shirts or T shirts with large writing on the front and/or coloured
sleeves which in the opinion of an umpire could be distracting shall not be regarded as
predominantly white even though the area of which may exceed the area of the coloured
writing and/or the coloured sleeves.
Exemption To Dress:
Clubs will be permitted to wear cricket shirts displaying club colours and featuring
sponsorship names and or badges in all grades on the following conditions:
1. The shirt is an official shirt of the cricket club.
2. A proposed draft design of the shirt depicting the proposed colours and insignia be
presented and approved by the Hills Cricket Association Executive Committee.
3. The front of the shirt must remain predominantly white whilst displaying all its
paraphernalia.

We had our first option rejected which was annoying but then the current shirt approved.

I haven't heard anyone complain all season - perhaps we should try more red next season to see whether that would help us???

well sounds like we are the only team that asked and got approval, therefore maybe a protest should be fired in to ban all clubs who didnt get approval and thus handing the A1 & A3 flags to the Redcaps!

Would they be the Heinrich brothers ?

Expect the Creeks to be a major contender as well as they are expected to gain a few talented recruits to compliment their local young talent.

Interesting to see how Hahndorf line up after last seasons controversy.

HVCC are attempting to arrange a T20 pre-season competition. Given they have suggested they would prefer the other teams involved to be from the HCA in which they compete, I'd suggest they have every intention of staying with HCA in 2008/09 - despite some rumours circulating...

Have heard around the traps that a possible T20 round of matches is being proposed for the TVCA for season 08/09 - be interesting to see how the vote goes...

Anyone got any other off season info from the hills or a&eh??
