In all my years of playing A Grade cricket I have never seen a worse display of bowling. Front foot no balls by over a foot, ridiculously long run up that is wasted and I don’t think he put a single ball on the stumps. Long hops and fullies were the order of the day. DB is by far their best bowler Lofty had and seems to improve every year. Scary? I think not. It’s not that he doesn’t know where it is going, it’s just that for some strange reason young Brown thinks the middle of the pitch is a good length. Fast, he can be but as he cant bowl at the stumps all you need do is let the ball go. Because of Brown the over rate was so bad that Lofty had only bowled 63 overs by 6:00pm and seriously ate into beer drinking time.
Lofty will give the four a shake this year with Sinkers and Statan Evens back but next time Brown bowls that bad, Statan would be well advised to drag him after 2 or 3 overs before he loses the game for them. If Brown can bowl his good ball consistently, then he'll be a handfull but I just cant see it happening.
P.S. The afternoon tea was second to none. Well done boys.
And Dutchy I have to agree with you on the four best bowlers although I always got you out (not exactly a claim to fame I realise). I'd chuck DB in the mix and Craggsy. And by the way I still don’t think you're a cheat.
Yes I twisted my ankle marking my runup. Yes it was the most unco thing you could hope to see. Yes I am a minder.
