yeah jimmy warbs, agars and giff all out. Only guys to get wickets for us against Aldgate :p
Few new recruits out tho, 4 new players who look like they can bat a bit, looks like we will be competive if we can keep agars and giff keen.

heard that ledge went to lofty to get a game in the B's...

Joel brown from Lofty – Seems like a good bloke, decent lower order bat and fielder, woeful bowler. In all my years of playing A Grade cricket I have never seen a worse display of bowling. Front foot no balls by over a foot, ridiculously long run up that is wasted and I don’t think he put a single ball on the stumps. Long hops and fullies were the order of the day. DB is by far their best bowler Lofty had and seems to improve every year. Scary? I think not. It’s not that he doesn’t know where it is going, it’s just that for some strange reason young Brown thinks the middle of the pitch is a good length. Fast, he can be but as he cant bowl at the stumps all you need do is let the ball go. Because of Brown the over rate was so bad that Lofty had only bowled 63 overs by 6:00pm and seriously ate into beer drinking time.

Lofty will give the four a shake this year with Sinkers and Statan Evens back but next time Brown bowls that bad, Statan would be well advised to drag him after 2 or 3 overs before he loses the game for them. If Brown can bowl his good ball consistently, then he'll be a handfull but I just cant see it happening.

P.S. The afternoon tea was second to none. Well done boys.

And Dutchy I have to agree with you on the four best bowlers although I always got you out (not exactly a claim to fame I realise). I'd chuck DB in the mix and Craggsy. And by the way I still don’t think you're a cheat.

Yes I twisted my ankle marking my runup. Yes it was the most unco thing you could hope to see. Yes I am a minder.

Saw it from close range and for the 1st 1/2 hour he certainly looked like a No. 11 but credit to him, he stuck it out and reaped the rewards from a seriously depleted and injury riddled Creek bowling attack who are really struggling without the services of Ben Warren who is still a way off from returning from a Football injury.
BTW Silky, Do you really think that was a 'Bumped Ball' when you were caught at Mid On early in your innings and given Not Out ? I Spose when in doubt, give Not Out although it looked OK to me but then again i'm not always right

In brownys defense he hasnt played on a hard wicket for a while and did struggle to get his run up right which i think contributed to many of the no balls and dead balls alike because he was too worried about overstepping. in his second spell he was much better and found some consistency and looked to trouble all of the scibs batters only bloke that looked comfortable at all against him was hayden!

i think its a good sign that he only went for 56 off of 14 overs especially when he bowled 20 no balls! it means once he sorts out his run up issues and can concentrate purely on his length he is a real handful. Only 36 runs coming of the bat at heathfield bottom oval is a good performance by any bowler. But i definately agree with you scibs boys he did struggle in his first spell

Welcome Techno....thought my post might bring you out

Good to hear the afternoon tea was up to scratch, I remember one arvo you wernt happy with the spread! :D

Not sure about the cheat thing, what was that (my memory is shocking)

Is Wellsy not playing anymore?

As for Brown being the worst Bowler in the Hills you obviously didnt see Kris Dawe bowl against Lofty last season!

I have to agree with Techno, the afternoon tea on both saturdays was awesome.
It was hot days both days and they brought out the oranges, apples and strawberrys.
not bad at all in the heat.
Well done on that front.

yes he did, but only managed 20 or so runs.
i think when you are a technical batsman, coming into a grade like d's or c's it's harder at first for you, because you are not facing the same bowlers and you have to adjust your style of play in which your not a custom too.

Banker, i think you may find yourself struggling in the C grade this year i think getting the services of both agars and warbo will be very difficult considering the River season is now upon us

I agree with posts so far saying galvin no.1 bowler closely followed by dubious, and piggy but no one has mentioned r reid or PD both easily top 5 bolwers in the league.

I was a bit suspect about you lads throwing people names about as best bowlers when they are still untried in Finals. Galvin proved himself with some really decent bowling in the GF last year against the Gators and Piggy has been consistent in finals for a long time. I say though Pd after consistent finals performances over 10 years (taking big bags along the way) would have to named the best in the comp and proved it by taking 7 against a highly fancied Meadows on the weekend. I thought Meadows would have chased that score down on oakbank oval but runs on the board for the browns.

This Brown from Mt. Lofty first game and allready talking Association. Turn it up!

Looks like it's going to be a reasonably tight season in the hca. Probably Happy Valley and Stirling not in the mix going by saturday's game but all credit to lofty if they have improved, still they got beaten by scibs on the weekend and Bridgy and Uri's had a fairly tight one too. (Nev Golding played in Bridgy C's on the weekend too another inclusion for them). You say Meadow and Onkas will be there in the finals but the rest will be fighting for 3 and 4.

Yeah and then made the quote of the year. "Hey Rohan, was that a bad one to leave?"

Come on Bookie, I don't bat jack because I'm Don Bradman. Safest place for any batsman is the non strikers end. The only reason that Brown was economical(ish) is because we didn't have step ladder to reach the short balls.

Agree with PD, top bowler. Not so sure about Rohan. And whoever said the thing about finals performaces is quite right.

PS> Dutchy, I called you a cheat many years ago, which I appologised for after the game but still regret.
