I am happy to help out on the day. Selling drinks would be good.
My playing days should be past me so I won't attempt it.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

If the current venue turns out to be unavailable due to weather on the turf pitch, Salisbury West should be able to cater with 2 grounds if necessary at late notice.

All these plans are great, but I think what would be ideal is if we just get the thing organised with people turning up. Teams, booze, BBQ can be sorted at late notice. Teams and rules can be agreed to and made up on the day 10 minutes before the game. Get people there and you can start to get creative after that.

Why would you want to be in a team that could feature "carey"??? ;)

Great ideas guys. I would be willing and hopefully able to help organise anything if you need any more hands Duckie

Aceman (who is undergoing psycho analysis) would be happy to assist in umpiring if needed. Did a bit of SACA Grade in his time, in fact Simon Fry who did the Aust v England 20/20 last night had a great mentor, he did his first ever grade game with aceman at Unley Oval a few years ago. Have a look where he is now compared to aceman, something's not quite right! He might even bring some goodies along too!

Sounds like an ideal bar. Liqour at the front, poker in the rear.[/quote]

What a great idea that would be at $10 a pop! That would fill the coffers...or fill something at least ;)

I have sent Duck Mann a message about trying to make it inter association games of Under 21, Seniors and Over 35's.

What are peoples thought on this concept?

Duckmann has gone off to earn some $$$ and will have a look at responses later.

I was working on the theory that members from ANY association could put their hand up to play in one of the opening games... we can mix'n'match the sides as needed to try and create "balanced" teams but the 'feature game' would be played as PDCA 'bestXI' vs C&CCA 'bestXI' (term "best XI" meaning best AVAILABLE XI) I have started chasing up opinions from 'senior members' from both PDCA and C&CCA to get a list of players to fill these teams.

If the Southern Boomerangs (SA indigenous imparja cup side) are interested in playing we will need 36 more players. Was thinking we could do 12 man teams using the super-sub type rule. When you field you take an extra bowler, and when you bat you drop one of the bowlers and bring in an extra batter??? thoughts????

not exactly sure what the terms of the liquor license are at the oval we're using, I am meeting with O.T tmw (at the pub =)) ) to discuss these things and see exactly where we stand.

23rd is go! O.T has already booked the ground and with the offer from S.West to change venue at short notice if the weather turns bad and prevents the use of the turf pitch we shouldnt have an issue with this side of things!

is an 11o'clock start for the first game about right for everyone? if the full 40 overs are bowled the game should take about 3 hours??? then the main game can start at 3?? We have volunteer face-painters for the kids, a DJ lined up (if logistics allow for him to set up) and are in the process of chasing a bouncy castle and petting farm as well. so the cricket will be there to occupy the dads (and the odd drink or 2) and hopefully we can get the above mentioned things organised so the rest of the family comes for the day too!

I have spoken to someone from 'The Messenger' newspaper already, they will be calling back tmw for more details. I will also be contacting some radio stations (SAFM and 5AA for a start) to see if we can build some interest from the local community. I will also email the advertiser and channel 9 and see if they will give us a mention too. Hopefully we can get a large crowd...

Consider this a "sign up" post - Just quote and add your name if you are committed to PLAYING on the 23rd in the 11am fixture. Add names of anyone from your club (in any association) that is 110% committed and WILL SHOW UP on the day! If we get more than the required numbers the good old 'name from a hat' system will be put into place to make selections fair!

Sounds pretty good, the response i got back from the imparja side seems pretty positive at this stage - worst case if the side doesnt compete, plenty of the lads are interested in a hit. 12 player sides with a super sub is good :D
