Happened in ATCA one year and the team that won outright made the finals by a point.
Was an 80 over day back then so they decided they'd have half overs each on day one.
Won't mention the two clubs involved but it was in the A1 comp.
Good on em for having a crack if they did in your comp.

Phantoms GAME BREAKER Player Watch
Adelaide Lutheran:
Jeremy Borgas - Many will think Nitschke or Hauser, but the young BORGASM has manged to creep under the radar this season.Regularly gets starts, and after a couple games off bounced back into the spotlight last round with a timely 60 which ultimately proved to help edge Lutheran ahead of NEK in the finals race. Not afraid of the big stage, crafted out an elegant 46 in the SAMCA T20 earlier this season against Rose & Crown, if he gets going he may prove difficult to stop.

Enfield:
Todd Keogh - With Lutheran, people will be leaning towards a Paul Wright or a Zach Hancock, but here we have the best batting side (Adelaide Lutheran) vs the best bowling side (Enfield), Keogh has struggled for consistency and form this season since coming across from ATCA, but has shown glipses of what he is capable of in recent weeks, and last round it clicked taking 6 first innnings wickets to destroy Seaton and set up the chance for Enfield to secure the minor flag. When people talk Enfield they immediately think of Gully, Hancock or Wright which will play into the opening bowlers hands and could prove a surpise packet. If he can work out the top order bats it would go a long way to Enfield wrestling the upper hand in this epic battle.

Rose Park:
Chad Parrish - It's simple, when Chad plays Rose Park play at another level. Their win ratio with him in the side is near on flawless, and on the flip side the lose percentage without him is massive. A classy bowler rich in experience and capable of bowling long spells, rarely does he fail with the ball, collecting 33 wickets from 6 games this season including 4x 5 wicket hauls.

Fitzroy:
Dave Loechel - The man to counter Parrish, Loechel has proven over the seasons that he is a devasting opening batsman capable of taking the game away from the opposition. Not foreign to scoring 100's, he has managed to churn out two unbeaten tons this season in a lazy 362 runs season averaging a tick over 90 from 7 digs. If Loechel fires and can help set a respectable total, it allows Spry to come into his own, bend his back and let them rip without fear.

Wether it happened or not I don't really care its done dusted now but maybe in the future make the last minor round game a one dayer to avoid the possibility of it every happening.

Or just make the whole comp one dayers and you play everyone 3 times......

The draw will never work out even as obviously you'll have an odd amount of games but 21 one dayers I'm sure would be more attractive than the possibility of fielding for a whole day may attract new blood in to the comp.

SAMCA and Carnivals are all run as One Dayers, You'll also avoid the I can play this week but not next carry on.

A grade 50 overs per side, B & C Grade 40 overs games start at 12.30???

dont have a problem with it. we all wouldve done the same and come to an agreement in the same situation. sucks to be on the wrong side of it but cant blame 2 sides for trying to make finals.

Yes you are right, how dare Para Vista or Rose Park try there best to win outright and make finals!

Kick both of them out, forgot it is a given right to make finals!

As amusing as it has been to read, it is extremely disappointing that a certain club with sour grapes is still going on and in turn taking the attention and spotlight off what looks to be an exciting and hotly contested finals series!

Season has been tight as a nuns proverbial all year, someone was always going to end up disappointed, accept it and celebrate the fact this has probably been the best season in churches for a very long time!

Adel Lutheran top all season, last years runner up now in 4th place but still a massive threat for the flag
Enfield first time in 21 seasons they have played Div 1 finals and 30 years since they last tasted success in the A grade
Rose Park firing right time for a tilt at a 3-peat and etch their name in the history books
Fitzroy consistently around the mark and runner up on occasion have a serious chance to break the drought

F**k NEK, get around the sides that are there

Not that it matters but I doubt PV could've made finals after the day 1 outcome. But like I said its done and dusted i'm already over it......

I guess its just not a great feeling not having lost a game since December, Being 3rd going into the final minor round game winning and finishing 5th and missing out on playing the bottom side because of weather 3 weeks ago and to not play finals but hey win more early in the year and problem avoided.

Oh well move on and see who wins. should be 2 very hotly contested games.

Pretty fair odds there Carey, although I think the Enfield v Para Vista game will be closer than you suggest, no Jason O'Regan week 2 for PV, Miller and Kirtland will need to step up for the Enfieldians.

In the Div 1 match, full credit to Adelaide Lutheran the way they went about their business on Saturday. Bowled extremely well and were supported in the field especially by Pete Taylor who kept magnificently.

90 runs is about 50 short of the minimum where we ideally would've like to have been, but now we need to make that a winning total.

Regardless of whether we win or lose, i can assure you Adel Lutheran will know they have been in a fight and will have earnt every last single run.

From an Enfield perspective, although it is a little disheartening that we couldn't produce more dominant performances in all grades, the club has come a long way this season and if we were going to be brutally honest we have already exceeded all expectations across the grades so far and it's a credit to the club and it's members who have applied the time and energy required to close the gap on the competition.... but we arent dead yet, and where there's still life we will still fight!
